    4767 I believe, wasn't it outshopped on December 31st 1947?

Thanks Pete, so for several reasons it would perhaps be appropriate to consider 4767 an Icon of Steam .....
Just out of curiosity I wonder if any thought was given to holding 6256 back to make it the final LMS outshopped loco, given its pedigree and name?

If my memory serves me correctly, Ian bought George from 'Carnforth' in the loosest sense in the 1970s - Brian Hollingsworth and/or Peter Beet were the actual owners. Peter once told me they had aimed to buy more than they could hope to keep to make sure locos were saved and available as others could buy them. Big debt of gratitude due to those gents, and to Ian for the pleasure 44767 has given in his ownership.

Sensible to keep a rival from acquiring it but not sure how much it will advance a return to working order. Much in the same way as LSL there is a fairly lengthy queue of locos at 10A either under or awaiting repairs, including a classmate out of use for 4 years or so? Then there's the Bulleid 'lights' as well, both of which arguably more suited to the bulk of WC demands than a class 5. Presumably 45699 will also fall due for overhaul within the next couple of years too?
Perhaps the pool for Jacobites will be augmented to support the almost year round operation hoped for?
More questions than answers but hopes for a brighter future sooner rather than later.

My hope is that WCR will tell NELPG they no longer require 62005 and we can have it back on the NYMR! Probably not for a few years yet, though!

On a more serious note good to hear she has a secure future. (Not my picture):

Was the report sold to WC or "moving to Carnforth"?

Galatea's 10 year ticket I believe runs out in 2023 and her 7 year ticket is 2020, but I recon the same thing they did to Guardsman will be done with Galatea, presently 10A have got a huge shortage of available steam engines as presently all they've got is 35018 British India Line and the two jubilee's 45690 Leander & 45699 Galatea. 34067 Tangmere's in pieces being worked on, there's been no updates regarding the scot but hoping she's back this year, the K1's only realy seen use on Jacobite trains & 44932's still in pieces (its tender last I saw was still being used by 45690 Leander as Chris said her own was having new tyres fitted).

48151's ticket ran out in December, there's not been any news regarding Lizzie but it has had a steam test. Once Lizzie and Guardsman are back in traffic that will be a blessing as it will help with the motive power shortage as one of the jubes will be needed in York for the Scarborough trains so that would leave us with just 1 engine as 35018's booked to work a few tours over southern metals.

One would think that even though 45596 isn’t a 10a loco that it would be helpful. I think 48151 had bottom end work done to it a couple winters ago so it could be in fine fettle for 2017 and 2018.

I thought 48151 has a very quick overhaul only a year or so back - UK Steam shows 2017 for its boiler certificate, which I believe is the start, not end, year.
