It looks like a LNER version aiming for the Great Britain land cruise market. It is more relaxed with more days for side trips, so might do well on the holiday with railways end of the market. All credit to Steam Dreams for giving it a try, it could be a good tour. ( But beyond the price for many folks.)

I'n not certain how "gauge friendly" the B1 will be compared to a black 5, so I suspect there will be a lot of work for the Scottish gauging engineers over the next month or two just processing this tour.

    Cheers, Neil

While gauging certificates don't seem to last for much beyond a year, B1 No. 61264 did cover the Highland Mainline and Kyle routes during Spring 2018. Should imagine little work would be required there, but again, a lot can change in 12 months (e.g the new platform extensions at Pitlochry).

It must be about 12 years since a B1 was up in Fort William, and unsure if one has tackled the Far North Route through to Dunrobin during preservation. They'll be the two which could throw up more surprises, however the latter has seen the A1 travel down in recent years.

Interesting. The blog-post giving the details is dated 1/5/2018. I'd have expected to have seen and heard rather more about it by now if was going ahead this spring, but it's in their 2019 brochure, so maybe it's just passed everyone by until now? (There's no mention of it on UKsteam.info yet.) Also, the choice of Thursday - Friday is a bit odd. I guess they needed to schedule the Inverness - Kyle leg on a Sunday. (We know pathing on this line is a problem on weekdays.)
