Private Charter Fort William to Mallaig and Rtn 16/02/19

No information on this anywhere... Nobody seems to have any either!! Is it diesel or steam?? Mossend down yard is odd for a 1zulu and something goes up the day before????

Well whatever it is, it goes from Ft William to Mallaig and back on the 16th Feb, then returns to Mossend and thence to Crewe on the 17th. Private charter sounds feasible to me.

This could be 47810 on route learning duties for forthcoming tours during 2019. I believe it is currently at Carlisle as a prelude to trips during the forthcoming over Scottish routes as part of the programme.

 

Didn't 47810 / D1924 fail at Preston last Thursday with a hot bearing and now waiting for road transport back to Crewe?

 

"Unadvertised express" on RTT usually only applies to passenger workings, rather than route learning, which would either be ECS or light loco.

 

With 45231 out on test this week would it be too much to hope for...?

 

The latest Heritage Railway hasn't landed through my letterbox yet, but I've just had a look at the preview online and page 14 confirms this is a private charter involving 45231.
