Any idea why it was 10 late out of Shalford? It arrived bang on time.

Late start from Shalford due to fire engine failing to turn up. They had to take water from a hydrant in the road outside the station which took a few minutes to sort out with hoses etc. Fortunately the pressure was quite good. They need 4000 gal for return trip to Victoria and then onward back to Southall.

I wondered if that was the case, good work by the support crew there!

A couple of shots from today's trip at Sandhills Crossing Virginia water and Shere Crossing. The have smartened it up a lot, the careworn look has largely gone. The early start from Victoria was a RTT blip, I believe it left on time.

Wow! Beautifully captured John. No.9 looks superb on that train. Glad you managed to get out of town for this. :)

Thanks John, I was going to start with a shot at Putney but the traffic in town was a nightmare so I went straight to Virginia Water

Finished work at 1:15, straight in the car and up to Shere Heath for 60009. Union certainly sounded good, you wouldn't know, if you didn't know, that she was nearly 7 years through her ticket.

Why the last time ever? Is its ticket not going to be renewed?

Lovely shots - what a shame about the telegraph pole in the Shere one. Lovely lighting in both.

My footage of the A4 climbing Gomshall Bank with beautiful snow on the tracks plus the sun was out as well. Enjoy.

St Martha's-on-the-Hill church overlooks 60009 as she climbs away from Chilworth at Little Ford crossing, Albury, with the Pullmans. Such a treat to see her on this duty for what could be the final time. DSC_6848 (2).JPG

I thought I had covered all the locations on this bit of line but that’s a new one on me, I’ll have to check it out. Is it accessed from the main road?

What telegraph pole? …..you can tell that I'm getting used to the ugly catenary system on the Great Western.

Excellent shots as ever John. I made the 200+ mile round journey to Chertsey and Albury foot crossing. Well worth the trek. <BJ>
