Not one I've seen before. Was that with 45596 all the way to Carlisle and back?

Why when it's easier to have it hooked up and providing heat and immediately to hand in the unlikely chance it might be needed.

Help please! RTT now showing the return train tomorrow using the Keighley crossover/Station Junction to access the Worth Valley, instead of going to Kirkstall and back. Then on the 16th RTT shows the return train not stopping at Keighley (?) and doing the Kirkstall run to reverse. I am now seriously confused, is anyone in the know about what's happening, please?

This is purely guess work, but I suspect that it is to do with the recent Saturday Northern strikes. Although they are now suspended, I believe that Northern have said that they will have difficulty in restoring a full Saturday service immediately and are running a much reduced service on Saturday evening. Until the details of this were known the Train Planners could not assume that the necessary slot was available for shunting across at Keighley. I'm sure that this Plan B has been in the background for some while. As for next Saturday, it will be a case of waiting to see what timetable Northern are able to run. But please do not take this as gospel as I have no inside information on this.

Frankly if Northern cannot get a normal Saturday timetable up and running by next Saturday it will just reinforce the general public opinion held round here that they have no interest in providing anything resembling a service!

Thanks, that does sound sensible. At least if it stays "as is" the lucky passengers get a bit of rare track on both days (assuming they stay on board on the 9th?)

They might try, but if the crews, who it would appear don't give a damn about the general public, make themselves unavailable there's little that Northern can do.

Woah, step back a second here.

Those who are rostered to work, turn up. Those who are not, are on rest days and shouldn't be expected to work overtime regardless of how it affects the public.

The strikes were about the guards protecting their safety critical role and how it affects the public during their work they are contracted to perform currently, And they wanted to uphold it.

I’ll go along with that, why should you be expected to work a rest day, especially on a sunny day during the Jacobite season!

Might be stating the obvious but the weather up here is seriously bad at the moment. Forecast is better later but roads still likely to be difficult, particularly out in the wilds. Anyone venturing out to see this please a)wrap up warm and b) take extra care on the roads. I'm going "local", 2 minutes away from home and only anticipate being out of the car for the passage of the train. Still looking forward to it!
