You would think so,but a trawl on Realtime this morning shows nothing at all not even a move to Wensleydale. My thinking is maybe a test run after it's Wensleydale stint as it is handier for the ECML.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

Good point, and Wensleydale would put a few more miles on the clock. So move there would be engine + POB test?

Quite possibly @Sheff, and surely it wouldn't go there by road would it?

One of Tornado's huge benefits, is her ability to lift 13 coaches up to 75mph from 0mph, in the shortest possible distance.

She has done that for most of her life, and enabled her to gain advantageous paths, as a result.

Regular drivers, seem to get the most out of her, certainly on the ECML excursions I have been on.

With any locomotive, to get the best out of it, you need to understand what is different about it compared with the next loco, you have to drive it frequently and also, ideally you have to know how best to drive it over the route in question. Look at how well the West Coast regular crews manage the Carnforth LMS fleet in particular. Look also at how DBC crews handle Tornado on the main line and how the smaller core of southern DBC folk handle Clan Line.

I suggest that this familiarity will not exist to the same degree on heritage lines when heritage crews take over main line locos. I'm not implying there is a necessarily a problem any more than when, for example, an owner of a petrol fuelled car drives a diesel for the first time. But some things are different and care is always needed with the unfamiliar.

Let's hope it all goes well for Tornado this time running it in to make up for all the bad luck it's had so far. It will be a long worthwhile wait for the A1 Trust to have her operational again.

I must confess I'm a little surprised to see that it's a WCR service as, unless I've missed recent developments, only DBC would operate 60163 (and other freight TOCs for LE drags).

Yes very strange, and there is a move from Carnforth to Barrow Hill that morning.

With a return move from Wensleydale that evening.

Tornado and support coach will be brought to Wensleydale by WCRC locomotive, hence initial move from Carnforth to Barrow Hill. Not sure if this will be a 37 or 47.

Thanks for WCRC for helping out with this move.

Shameless plug for those who dont yet have tickets - https://www.wensleydalerail.com/tornado/

A little surprised given WCRC's refusal to do drags in the past but happy to see this development!
And why would anyone not have tickets yet? ;)

I guess it is because of the close links between Carnforth and Wensleydale.

I welcome any occasion where the heritage rail industry works for the greater good of us all.

I am pleased that on the face of it, some work has been done to build bridges. Long may that continue.

It is difficult to build, or rebuild, trust, and it is incredibly easy to throw it away.

Yes its good to see that Tornado can be moved by WCRC and that there must be some agreement. I think its a case of needs must and that WCRC were willing to oblige. There is a difference between it being moved by WCRC and operated by WCRC.
