I'd say so. It's just perspective. The centre girder is curved, the outer ones flat.

There has been more tidying up around the West side of the Loco shed and it looks as though there has been a more detailed look at the Canal bridge. There has been no work yet at rebuilding the embankment to the North of the MML bridge.

Not as such cos id reckon the gcr have got to wait 4 the bridge parapet girders restored been done at a engineering firm in wales somwhere in the reigon of £300,000 (but they need £450,000 full amount)has been raised so when the new steel girders and side panelling have bèen restored or got a foundry maybe new port talbot tata steel will cast the nee parts to fabricate some new metal 4 the bridge progress then can be focused on the embankment requiring so many tons of spoil earth to build th banking up as far as railway terrace preci spark, But there is alo a project to make a single track past the loco shed and so rebuild the loco shed also to make way 4 the new lines to cross the ga if this info helps and thus the engine shed has to be done b4 they can build up the embankment

Elsewhere on the GCR, they have been putting in the concrete footings for the shed extension at Swithland Sidings. There will be space for 12 coaches. DSCF8204.JPG

Is the carriage sheds on the mount sorrel branch? Is this where the new loco shed will be also when the gap at loughborough is completed?

    Hi Davo
The carriage shed is an extension to the shed at Swithland Sidings.
The proposal for the new engine shed is that it will be to the West of the existing loco shed at Loughborough. So the new running line(s) to the North across the "Gap" will go through where the present shed is situated.

The carriage shed extension is on the north end of the RVP owned shed that was erected at Swithland Sidings 4 (?) years ago. It doubles the size of that shed and presumably, RVP will have 2 roads in the enlarged shed, each holding 6 carriages, and the GCR will have the other 2 to store a similar number of vehicles.
Presumably it will all be described in the next copy of Main Line, as very little has been said about it anywhere up to now!
Think the loco shed is staying in Loughborough, albeit bodily moved westwards from its existing location.
The shed extension at the Mountsorrel museum is totally seperate to this and has its own thread elsewhere on here......

I do find it very frustrating that the GCR seems to be very slow in publicising the significant number of positive news stories about the line. The website is rarely very current and does not have a very obvious "news" section......I know it is in the banner on the righthand side but it is not exactly prominent.

There's a depressing picture on the Facebook "GCR-Greater Great Central (Leicester North to Ruddington)" group showing a footpath that has been built through what remained of the platform at the original Ruddington GC station.

The steel framework for the carriage shed extension is now all erected. The Rothley car park is due to be properly resurfaced now that the "Ellis cafe" building extensions have been completed (on the outside).

As reported in the diesel and electric locomotive section, Class 50, number 50017 in Network South East livery is due to arrive at Loughborough as a working addition to the diesel fleet.

The carriage shed extension now has most of the steel work, that will hold the cladding sheets, installed between the main frames.
There has been no change at the canal bridge, but there is more clearance of "stuff" on the western boundary around the engine shed and to the North......as of yesterday.

Thanks for that info Ianh, it is good that progress is being maintained. In other news the carriage shed extension has nearly all its cladding attached, so then the track will go in and it will be soon ready for use. DSCF8257.JPG
