    Nice pictures guys and very impressive scenes but...can I make a comment, in and around sheds, unless track had recently been relaid you would either only see the tops of the sleepers if in fact they were visible at all. They would all be covered in clinker and ash, you go round any working shed today.

    But my layout has that in the two shed roads... and has normal sleepers on the tracks outside the shed area, as locos wouldnt dispose of their ash there....

    I see what you mean Kieran but in my picture that is not particularly a place where fires are cleared out but the ballast has long since gone. In fact it would be a real nuisance if there was ballast as it would make moving around the locos a pain, having to walk on an uneven surface.

    Quite amazing how big a difference the valancing sheets on the earlier A4's make to the models looks, i'd swear 60029 was a slimmer beast altogether.

    Not bad Dan - But you could make it look a bit grimier? Black, with a bit of lighting Plus the ballast in place with dirty track? All the same its fab! just never seen a charlie lined up with a couple of A4's unless you count the anniversary?

    I would point out that all photo's at the present time show a 'work in progress' layout. The sheds will have a modicum of grime added, but as they are new build preservation structures they need to look reasonably clean! I have ballast ready for laying and I also need to paint the rails with rust colour. I am also looking at the possibility of adding lighting towers.

    Anyway, here is the converted 60019 Bittern showing her in preserved form:

    I need to add the air brake hoses at front and rear plus I'm not too sure whether there are any OHL stickers in the cab area (including tender footplate). I also want to add two smoke generators and a South West Digital sound chip and speaker.

    Christmas brought along two new additions to the layout. Including a weathered Bachmann Pannier from a good friend and a limited edition Clacton On Sea wagon.
