We will be steam hauled by 45690 Leander from Carnforth to Carlisle and from Carlisle to Preston on our return via the Settle and Carlisle line.

35018 confirmed failed (injectors). Diesel to take us on...

 

47826 at Scout Green but not the same as steam sadly.

 

Shap Summit passed at 47mph on my GPS. Would’nt have thought BIL would’ve been far off that

 

Diesel all the way back to Preston then On the C.M.E.

 

Just no comparison with steam Steve but aye there’s always next week

 

I feel genuinely sorry for all those on board, for what must have been a bitter disappointment. I drove to Lancaster to see the 86 through, then jumped on a train to photograph BIL arriving at Carlisle. As it turned out, all I really noticed were the glum faces at carriage windows as the train arrived. It was my intention to take a train back to Lancaster then head over to Ribblehead for the return.
