Last year, on and off at Preston was a little under 155 miles of steam.

I suppose something else that has put people off is coming down through Copy pit and round the stansfield curve at Todmorden onto Phillips park jct. Its not sticking to the advertised route and there again if it had have gone via Sheffield on the Calder valley L.Y.R. LINE via Hebdon bridge it would have been more appealing.

That might have put a few people off but the majority go for a day out to Buxton and the route is not the most important thing.

    Sheff and Waterbuck like this.

Perhaps not the most important but certainly of some importance to some. I had booked on last year's High Peak Explorer but cancelled when the route was changed, the revised route being no longer interesting enough to justify the two nights away which I would have needed.

I see times are in the system for the Nigel Dobbing Memorial train on 17th March. I dont suppose there are any clues as to the likely traction?

Did Nigel Dobbing have a favourite loco in particular he liked personally at 10A in their pool?

A friend of a friend is a guest on the memorial train. He is expecting 35018, though there may always be a late change

Thanks. I was wondering if the Queen of Scots rake might make an appearance like it did for Mr Dobbing's birthday train with Galatea a few years ago.

Noticed a series of workings over weekend of 16-17/3, which look interesting:

    The workings are
    1. Empty stock from Carnforth to Kings Lynn on Saturday 16/3/2019 - http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54940/2019/03/16/advanced
    2. Special working on Sunday 17/3/2019 Watlington to Melton Mowbray - http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54935/2019/03/17/advanced
    3. Special working on Sunday 17/3/2019 Melton Mowbray to Kings Lynn - http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54937/2019/03/17/advanced
    4. Empty stock from Kings Lynn to Carnforth on Monday 18/3/2019 - http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54941/2019/03/18/advanced
All very similar to the private charter with 46115 just about 9/10 years ago, over much the same track. Loco this time rumoured to be 35018.

So am I and that pair would be excellent, my realistic thoughts are the 8F plus something, hopefully not a 37 but could be Leander. Hopefully the letter with the tickets might help. Bahamas could do with a run out!

New style brochure from RTC arrived today. VERY light on detail and motive power in particular. How can you make a decision when you don't know what you will be hoping to buy?
