Steam heat does work when travelling foward (smoke box first) but was not fitted for reverse direction.

I understand the principles, Steam heat is only on the tender not on the front end. That kinda blows that barroom gossip out the window. No steam heat on the front no cold winter trains.

Our chairman has a lot of explaining to do.....

Heritage railway has published what they believe to be true, the truth of the matter is still not known at large.

I will agree with Mr Riley!

The chairman has made a huge U turn!

If you're going to criticise someone's misuse of the English language, how about trying correct grammar, punctuation and capitalisation first?

    Re:

What you appear not to be aware of, is that your esteemed committee have been negotiating the sale of the engine for some months now. Apparently they take the view that anyone who has not been involved since the days of Ashchurch are not entitled to influence the outcome. I'm not aware of anything being concluded as yet, but I've got a pretty good idea where it is going. Or rather, who it's going to. Perhaps it's well past time that ordinary members challenged what the hierachy are doing on their behalf.

My understanding was that 6201 is owned by a Charity, and therefore they probably have to give the loco to another charity should they ever have "finished with it" - that is the usual rule for items forming part of a Charity's "collection". If sold, what would they do with the proceeds? The charity exists (presumably) to educate the public by operation 6201 - if 6201 has gone, what happens to the money? It certainly doesn't get distributed to memebrs - again, gifts to similar charities would be the only route.

Some years ago, when it was announced that the latest overhaul would be 6201's last, there was speculation and various bodies that were charities lining themselves up to gain the loco, and stories of others that weren't looking at forming charities in order to get in line!

Of course, if I am wrong about 6201 being owned by a charity, please ignore the above. If I am right, then the Charity Commissioners are final arbitors of ensuring fair play if some-one chooses to involve them (and, I would guess, would probably have to be consulted on any sale/gift of the loco)

    Re: Re:

It appears that you are unaware of the situation as the "esteemed committee" has no
knowledge of these alledged negotiations. Would you like to comment on where this information has come from. The committee awaits your reply
