Mid Hants Railway Spring Steam Gala 2019: 8TH TO 10TH MARCH.

Slightly late, but here are a couple of photos and my video from the Sunday of the event. There have been many complaints about this gala, be it the price, the shortened line, an "unambitious timetable", and the weather forecast; in fact I saw one comment on Facebook that blamed the MHR for the high winds and claimed they "should have done more to prevent the fallen tree" that blocked Ropley Soke on Sunday morning. While this did cause a 40 minute delay, it appeared to be handled quickly, no trains were cancelled, the Ropley platform staff kept everyone well informed, and all the time was made up by the end of service. My thanks go to all concerned for their efforts and I hope that no one was disheartened by the negativity of some, as I personally had a great day! For me the Yank Tank was the star of the show with the 9F not far behind, it'll be a great shame when it comes out of traffic later this year. Anyway, enough from me...

 

Firstly, just to say a BIG thank you to those who came & saw us up at Meadstead over the weekend - without your support, we wouldn't get half of what we get done to those troublesome trucks done!!
