A few jobs needed to be picked up before it is available for traffic.

Any loco rosters and timetable for the coming weekend? Planning on going down but with 34072 missing and a personal aim of avoiding Flying Scotsman it may be tricky picking up whatever is left.

Ignore the locos shown rostered on the timetable (other than 60103's trains of course). I guess the 30120 and 80104 will be steamed for the 6 coach trains but would have thought 419 was not strong enough to haul those services up 1 in 76/78/80 gradients without causing it some serious wear and tear.
Over the 5 day period, including the coming weekend, the same train times apply and can be found on: https://swanagerailway.co.uk/media/type/event-leaflets (- then click on the timetable .pdf hyperlink.)

As you wish to avoid FS workings, the 'Feeder trains' summary is:
Norden departures: 09:00; 10:00; 11:40; 13:20; 15:00 and 16:00 [Purbeck District Council's car park at Norden is likely to be very busy or full so come early or, at least, allow plenty of time]
    Swanage departures: 10:40; 12:20; 14:00; 15:40; 17:20 and 18:21 (sic).
It is highly likely that most of them will be 'full' even though it is planned to be an augmented 6 [vice 5] coach rake with 312 seats. Plenty of shunt and release action at Swanage, due to a 5 coach limit run-round, plus very accurate stopping at Norden for FS's 7 coach train.

    Please note
Between 22nd and 26th March there are various traffic management and road closure orders in Swanage and Corfe Castle areas: Go to: https://www.swanagerailway.co.uk/ne...losure-flying-scotsman-event-22-26-march-2019 This is to stop 'stupid' parking obstructing traffic flows and causing needless hazards to pedestrians. Dorset Police are, I believe, increasing patrols in the area to enforce these Orders.

Finally, Flying Scotsman's 25 trains have less than 1,900 seats available overall, as at tonight, with the weekend being sold out.

Surprised to see that apart from the timetable, information is still not yet available about which locos will be working which trains on each day of the Flying Scotsman event. It seems that the Caley will be overshadowed by Scotsman to the point where it might be impossible to get a run behind it. That would be a pity.

Seems 419 is out on a loaded test run with slightly ironic headboard.

    From the railways facebook page

“Surprise Swindon Ivatt joins the Scotsman Party”

The Swanage Railway are pleased to announce the hire of LMS Class 2 2-6-0 Ivatt ‘46521’, coinciding with the visit of Flying Scotsman and the Spring Steam Up. The Ivatt will additionally be staying with the Railway through our busy Easter period and providing further strength to our home fleet locomotives throughout the remainder of April. 46521 is already on the move, and is expected to join the Swanage Railway tomorrow!

46521, resplendent in British Railway’s Brunswick Green, will be joining us courtesy of our fantastic friends at the Great Central Railway and the LSLG. Built at Swindon in 1953, the Ivatt is a beautiful locomotive, and will fit in well working services between Swanage and Norden.

Unfortunately SR U Class 31806 is now unavailable for service due a mechanical fault and has been moved to our Herston Works for maintenance; but do not worry, she will be back in Swanage for duty over the next couple of months! In line with this 31806 will not be appearing at our Spring Steam Up; however 46521 will join 419, 60103, 30120, 80126 and 33111 to still provide us with a fantastic mix of Scottish, Southern, Sulzer and *now* Swindon!

Further information about 46521’s running days, as well as an updated timetable and workings for Spring Steam Up will follow in just a few days time"

419 isn't going to be working 6 coach trains. Todays test run showed that it cannot cope with 6 and 5 was pushing it. Small firebox is what holds it back compared to the M7.

Noticed it was reduced to 5 on its second run. Does that change the gala programme?

The gala organisers will undoubtedly sort it out and give 419 a train it can handle.

It's beginning to feel as though this coming weekend may be rather busy and congested on road and rail if the SR is planning on long trains. Shunt/release and all that. On top of that their office has confirmed today that they don't yet know exactly what is working on the start day - Friday. Definitely something different from 34072 that appears on the original roster. No sense that 419 will be on trains either with possibly 80104 used for shunting. Who knows? Possibly worth a miss.

I suspect the Swanage Railway hopes the coming weekend is very busy - bearing in mind the costs of hiring FS and related contractual requirements (security staff, etc.).
80104 may be rostered but, I would guess, 419 should be capable of shunting 7 coaches within Swanage Station limits. Only my opinion however.
Currently there are now only 1,404 seats available (261 Friday, 525 Monday and 618 Tuesday). Apparently around 200 seats were sold on-line immediately following Paul Clifton's live piece on Tuesday evening's BBC South Today. I understand that BBC South morning news bulletin(s) on Friday are planned to be broadcast from Swanage Station.

    Update -
Apparently BBC TV Breakfast will be transmitting a number of slots with John Maguire live from Swanage Station on Friday 22nd March, from 06.25 until the last slot which is normally around 09.05-ish. For non-regular Breakfast afficionados - 'local' slots tend to be at around 25 and 55 minutes each hour.
