Yes, that works. Game over for KOYLI then, despite tens of thousands of pounds being spent on getting it mainlined.

I wonder what long term exhibition actually is? Does this for example rule out the q7 returning to use

The Q7 clearly fits the static criteria.

As you say that's a proper kick in the teeth for the volunteers who spend countless hours fixing her up for a couple of galas and one? Railtour, utter rubbish, the document doesn't even mention the 31,47,84 or 87 so it's been well thought through anyway

It's a very interesting document, the standout in terms of steam is the suggestion of a mainline overhaul for the V2 and the overhaul of the J52 - should suitable 3rd Parties be able to agree to the SMG T&Cs. Interesting times...

I think the comment on page 20 ‘Collections vehicles will not be returned to operational condition because of pressure from external stakeholders’ is a very large F.U to rail enthusiasts. ‘We’re the masters’

The document is depressing because it seems to be an ever shrinking world, limited to van rides at three sites and maybe getting heritage lines elsewhere to restore national collection items that could run.

The collection is neither working museum, nor a conserving museum, nor tourist attraction (although some might say with the growing commercialisation of NRM it is a coffee and gift shop with a few locos attached).

The NRM (and Shildon) is a storage shed.

STEAM at Swindon is a museum.
