Yes he did he called the poodle boris, i go up and stay with him on gala w,ends. my uncle nowdays just has a cat. He bought the glaisdale station house whilst he lived in staithes and ran a tearoom there and a friend who lives with him helped him run the cafe. Anyhow just by chance he saw glaisdale r,way station house for sale in the local paper and snapped at the chance with his friend and moved to glaisdale. In the 1980,s.

Thought Boris must be quite an age by now if he was still about - he loved coming out to greet the steam train crews! Now sure we ever knew his name. He was great friends with Marj Hamilton.

My uncle said there were a ballast train up on the esk valley line has N.R. been track replacing somewhere on the line it could be why 60009 may have not gone by rail and up to newbridge yard on a low loader only a guess though.

We all knew Boris if not by name - he was the unofficial station supervisor at Glaisdale. Here he is "on duty" in 2009:- IMG_0352 copy.jpg
Sorry to go so off topic - I cannot even claim we were moving 60009 at the time as it was 60007 on this occasion.

"Their support has been invaluable and as a gesture of goodwill we have agreed to a visit of 926 Repton to their Autumn Gala which takes place 18-20 October 2019”."

    Alright then. That's me going.

The Autoballaster was for delivering to our relay site on the NYMR between Green End and Deviation.

Same as Tornado two months ago. There's a month to finish off the work and road test it. Time will tell. Various things are not showing on UK Steam, that's neither here nor there.

My guess is with City of Wells replacing UoSA, the seats on the booked trips are not going to be filled to capacity. I think a lot of the local folk round York and would prefer to see a streak loco than a spam can heaving up Goathland incline with the line been ex LNER

A lot of the seats on these trains are pre-sold to tour operators because many other attractions don't open till closer to Easter, so the change of loco may not matter too much. These trains are not targeted at railway enthusiasts.

There's also the small print if the Railway cares to enforce it. I don't think the motive power is guaranteed.

Hard core gricers may worry about the loco up front but others, true enthusiasts included, will not be so partisan. Anyone with any clue as to the vagaries of steam locos will realise that sh1t happens and that 34092 is a fine substitute for 60009. I hope to be there, disappointed that 60009 hasn't made it but more than happy with the replacement. Hopefully the A4 can make an appearance later in the season.

Me being a 'true enthusiast' I'll turn out to see C of W 'heaving up' to Goathland.
Later in the year Mr Riley and his men will hopefully work their magic on #9 and.......................who knows.;)

Of course, the person best qualified to identify a 'true enthusiast' is me, and I know that the only truly true enthusiasts are those who turn out for a Swindon locomotive! :p
