Confidential chat my eye. Bet the only confidential chat Sidmouth had was with the chairman's answerphone and even that hung up on him. Just trying to make himself look important.

Sorry to see passions getting inflamed to this extent. Whilst it is understandable that there is great interest in 01, you do have to remember that it is actually solely the business of the engine's trustees, the society's members and their elected board. If there is a need for the elected chairman to be held to account for his actions then sufficient members should get together and demand an EGM to hear his explanation of the situation which appears to be causing concern. If there is any decency, a clear statement should already have been issued to the members explaining what has happened to cause the uproar. The committe and its chairman were presumably elected by the membership in the belief that they were the best available to represent the member's interests, they are certainly not there to take unexplained unilateral actions without explaining apparently unusual circumstances to the members. It may well be that the members at large are perfectly happy with the current situation, but they do have a right to debate this in private, and those of us on the outside should not descend to the level of questioning people's honesty with consequent threats of further enrichment of one of the richest professions? in the land.

It remains to be seen if there is a genuine problem or if this is one of those storms in the nat-pres teacup. Until Mr Mojonnier speaks in person the rumblings can only get worse.

I suggest you all read the latest Steam Railway.this states that the engineer that resigned had in fact wanted to 3 years ago,and is 73 years old.I am not suggesting that age is the only factor ,but there must come a time when you feel that the younger element should do their bit.

Mr Roy Kerry, their engineer has resigned because he feels that he cannot be held responsible for the safe operation of the loco anymore, as engineering related decisions are being taken by some non-engineering members of the committee.

It had been arranged, at no extra cost to the society, for 46201 to return to its home base at Bury following it's last R.T.C. operation, the committee however, decided to overturn those arrangements and leave the loco to Crewe instead. Roy is well aware that there are currently no adequate engineering facilities, nor covered accommodation at the 'Heritage Centre' (remember we are not talking about LNWR here), to enable him and his small but very capable engineering team to carry out their work. Indeed the committee feel that they, rather than their nominated engineer know more about the engineering requirements for the loco!, and that they should be making such decisions themselves.

During my own professional acquaintance with Roy, I have found him to be a most professional and conscientious engineer with the safe operation of the loco to be his prime aim in life, more-so following his retirement from full time employment, to be treated in such a manner is not acceptable, and all the blather on this forum by the unknowing, or certain brain-washed followers is quiet sickening.

Reading the press articles, It would appear that the committee has made a u-turn with it's wishes, whether that is too late has yet to be seen.

And please take no regard of any article which states age as a limit to competence!

Ian let me be the first to apologise if i inferred that 73 was too old, obviously you know more than most about what went on.I just thought that in view of what was written in S.R. that it ought to be put on here.

I beg your pardon? Why on earth are you referring to me as a 'large troll'?? This thread was made by someone who was making an honest and straightforward enquiry: nothing more, nothing less.

Sidmouth, this was the original post in the thread, I think your reference to a large troll is misplaced. Perhaps you would like to reconsider your comment.

I have watched recent postings on 6201 over the last few weeks and feel I need to make comments.

Recent statements attributed to Clive Mojonnier Chairman of 6201 Society made recently and published in Heritage Railway and Steam Railway contain several mis-truths, these need to be corrected.

1 Roy Kerry did not retire as engineer, he resigned.

2 6201 did not just happen to be at Crewe Heritage upon expiry of her main line certificate. The planned light engine and coach move back to Bury and the ELR by EWS after her last main line trip in August, was cancelled by the 6201 committee themselves (This move was to have been paid for by RTC and was at no cost to the 6201 society at all)

Both these facts are verified by Ian Riley (with more detail) in a recent posting.

In the recent Steam Railway "interview" it also states that Mr Mojonnier is a trustee at Crewe Heritage Centre, a fact that has not been made available to the 6201 members or was deemed worthy of a mention in the recent 6201 newsletter.

Another recent omission in the 6201 newsletter, was in spite of an obituary being published of Geoff Creese, was the lack of an acknowledgement that the Creese Family had made a donation in memory of Geoff to the society. This fact itself was revealed in this very forum by Sidmouth (Geoffs son Martin).

Is it time to go, Clive, a career in politics beckons????

Well said Pendle Witch it has needed saying.

It was noted that at the transport event at Crewe today, that the chairmans wife and sales ladies were in attendance - what a poor display of goods for a society trying to raise much needed cash.

I think this thread should remain open, it has been revealing some interesting information. It is good that Mr Kerry has people on here fighting his corner so to speak. It is very easy for the real issues to go un-noticed because the "group" have the "voice" column space in national magazines etc. where as an individual may well not receive such coverage. Reminds me in that respect of the 6024/Mr Underhill situation.

Unfortunately, what you read in Steam Railway is not necessarily true. There are people around who seem to command somewhat misplaced respect amongst the likes of journalists, and others, and what they submit to the magazines doesn't get verified as it should. Although of course a cynic might suggest that it only serves to boost circulation, so what does it matter.

There are similar grossly untrue statements about a project at Southall that have recently appeared in at least two magazines.

Of particular note to those 6201 members who were unable to attend the AGM, Roy did indeed resign at the end of the meeting, his reason was that he was not being allowed to do his job properly. The 6201 newsletter gives no explanation of the reason for his departure and there was a very brief tribute to Roy, in that the Society fully appreciated his contribution as an Engineer. A very poor tribute to a person who has given so much of his life to Lizzie.

    It had to be said.

I quite agree with you Ralph, at the very least it seems a rather odd comment to make!
