Remarkable achievement, GWS.

Thinks: if we rename it Saint Martin, get some smaller driving wheels, we can create a Hall! (Fetches coat, etc)

 

You will need more than your coat; I suggest a tin hat as well.

 

A bit of constructive criticism for the Didcot fellas...........get rid of the red lamp on the running board, sick it out of the way, maybe in the 'cab' somewhere,

 

Why? - that's where the brackets for the spare lamps are.

 

Just as they are on 2807, a GWR loco of similar period. (On running board by top feed pipe).

Great responses. Lots of positives ... and then someone moaning about the valve timing and another about a lamp! NatPres at its finest.

 

Quite so richards. What's more you forgot to mention that the GWS have painted 2999 the wrong shade of green, not forgetting the pink poker-dot pattern too .......

 

It was, if you'll excuse the phrase, an eye opener when my mother recovered from her cataract op, and decided the living room chairs needed recovering because the two shades of green didn't match any more. And another one when I discovered the moss spores on the house roof look an entirely different shade of red depending on which eye I look at them with.
Anyone who thinks they can remember colour correctly from 60 years ago is deceiving themselves, because the colours won't look the same.

 

No credit to me, I was pointed at it, but yes, I agree.

 

Went back on Saturday. Better than Friday. Much more action from the Saint, plus a cameo appearance from 6023 King Edward II:

 

A most interesting video D1002. Be nice to see 2999 stretching her legs "properly" on a longer preserved line, rather than shuffling up and down on the GWS demo line. Curious looking at/watching the King, the brass bonnet [in particular] seems to my eye at least somewhat squat, is it the "cut-down mainline" approved bonnet?

 

Yes, I believe so.

 

I'm sure Martin has a charter booked for Bewdley with the SVR's top lights!

 

Exactly, I lose patience with people at vintage vehicle rallies telling us the buses we take are the wrong colour. I've seen five Ex-Huddersfield buses lined up together and not one of them was the same as any of the others... So which one's correct?

Now, back to 2999!

Video from the today (Sunday). 2999 came out in the afternoon after having a couple of issues attended to in the morning, an enjoyable day nonetheless.

 

Not a complaint, just a comment.
Didcot, can you please remove the concrete rubble and other stuff from the side of your demonstration line.
