Exactly, I lose patience with people at vintage vehicle rallies telling us the buses we take are the wrong colour. I've seen five Ex-Huddersfield buses lined up together and not one of them was the same as any of the others... So which one's correct?

    Now, back to 2999!

    Oh god, the paint debate.

No, we might not be able to exactly see the same colours but we can through chemical analysis and precise mixing of ingredients recreate exacting paint shades from decades and decades ago.

That’s why the re-streamlined Duchess of Hamilton looks so good today - it’s as accurate as you’re likely to get.

By 'concrete rubble' I presume you mean the original stonework from the Brunel-era Heyford station, in which case there is a nice space waiting for it on Oxford Road platform.

Cheques should be made out to the Didcot Development Fund...

I'm sorry, I didn't realise that posting personal opinions was now frowned on.
If that's where the lamp lives......fine. I just thought it spoiled the graceful lines of a good looking locomotive.

Oh, and I'm sorry as well for mentioning the tender.

Correct region (up North), but wrong place I'm afraid. Manchester is the place where the sun don't shine...!

I wonder if, now that the Saint is done, if progress on some other projects (e.g. the Night Owl, the only engine project which really sets my heart racing - sorry!) will speed up? I know some people felt like there were too many projects there, and that that helped lead to slowness on some of them; if so, the completion of the Saint should help?

I'm thinking that workshop space at Didcot released from 2999 might now see 4079 Pendennis Castle making some progress?

I would hope that the focus would be Pendennis, the 72XX and the County 4-6-0 and then an overhaul on the king as it barely seems to have run and is nearly at the end of its ticket. Is there enough people to keep this going though? And also all of those are a bit big for Didcot tbh so there should also be a focus on the smaller locos. Is Didcot a contender for too many locos, not enough time? Or should they remain static never to be run again with just a few that get overhauls?

I know this is a GWS project but I thought the "Night Owl" 4709 is being constructed at Llangollen, not Didcot.
