Only in Wirksworth would you get a Blackpool Tram, a 1950s railcar and Britain’s first hybrid diesel-battery locomotive all in the same place! The tram is a battery operated test vehicle, the trolley in the foreground is the remains of a home made generator powered electric trolley which was the first item of rolling stock on site in 2000.

Not for much longer though as Attelys are just about to remove the hybrid diesel-battery locomotive from the site.

Well, it has gone now, but a most interesting machine. It had remote controlled screw link couplings and I would very much have liked to see those under test.
