To be generous - Edinburgh depart around 8.30 am, Ayr/Falkland, 12.30 to 1.30 pm and Stranraer arrive around 4 pm.

News to me, if true. This may all depend on which spring in which case we can only hope that 10A has a solution or possibly an alternative loco like a Princess. We wish.

    Fingers crossed, I guess.

Doubt it. More like “I wish these sanders were working properly.”

Let's hope no9 can be fixed for it to return to it's old stomping ground.

Alternatives for Wednesday would be pretty limited I'd have thought at this stage, what with the line to Aberdeen seeing so little steam and what is still actually gauged for the route several years on

The A1 that we do know fits after the Aberdonian run a few weeks back is out of the question sadly.

Broken springs are not unusual and given the cooperation of other owners of similar engines, even if 60009 does not have a spare available, there should be the chance of a loan. The owners of LNE Pacific have temporarily exchanged far larger items.

Never changed a spring on a A4 ,but not a big job on loco's I've worked on .Plenty of heavy jacking up if no wheel drop. Should be spare springs about ,as 242A1 says ,broken springs nothing unusual.

Here’s my video from the first two days. Day 1, captured at Whiteball and Stoneycombe. Day 2 at Hemerdon (the lower part, before the slip), Pugham Farm, Cogload Junction and Nethercott.

    And a few snaps….

I thought Mr Riley and his troops attended to the needs of #9. It's reasonable to think they will be all over the loco. like a rash today.

Don't forget Doug, there are some who are experts at making deductions of a loco performance/handling from a short video clip regardless of their probable lack of footplate experience.

Well what a cheery thread this is, looked to me like a lovely locomotive doing what she was designed to do by a crew on top of their game.....

Why does nearly every thread on NP descend evermore into a points scoring appendage waving competition? :(

Can't really understand the 'thrashing' comment. Watched a lot of videos on Whiteball outward, Dainton, Rattery, Hemerdon and Whiteball on the return and there's no evidence whatsoever of the engine being thrashed. For goodness sake its only load 10. The recovery on Hemerdon was superb, gently handled, otherwise she would not have got away at all. Spoken to Andy, Pete and Spike many times and 'thrashers' they are not.

One of a discrete list of folk from whom such and similar comments are unhelpful therefore, if true.

Wasn't really following this year's run as I was due out of the weekend helping my kids Scout group with a hike and camp. Anyway having planned their route for them, it occurred to me that if I timed the start about right and kept the pace under control I might yet see the Saturday run. Sure enough on the top of Little Solsbury (not bleeping Solsbury Hill - Mr Gabriel!) I was able to turn to the Bathampton Valley and say to the Scouts - "Look - specially for your walk, we've arranged a special run past of a steam hauled special". Not sure many of them fell for that but they seemed to appreciate it nonetheless. Funny part was we'd stopped for a break on the return walk overlooking Keynsham and saw the second leg coming back down the valley as well. Never hurts to spread the message!
