That's the LE diesel path, the thread above yours suggests that the LE diesel will be tagging along for the ride from Hereford?

Might just be because the LE was allowed to run out of path and got to Hereford very early. Perhaps easier to attach to the train than take up the original path.

Looks to me as though the diesel was originally planned to follow the tour and arrive at Hereford half an hour after it left. But the diesel was an hour early, turned up with the charter still there and was tacked on the back. I'm sure there was an important operational reason for doing this. However, if it's just for convenience then this is exactly the kind of thing that ND would have jumped up and down about.

Mass tresspass on approach to leomimster seen from the A49. Thanks to the idiots I was able to get my shot at Ludlow Racecourse with 30 secs to spare. There was pensioners with walking sticks in the four foot ! Hate these type of people gatecrashing my hobby.

I'm riding on the Manchester service running next one behind it (travelling for work again, I do keep bumping into the steamies), obviously delayed due to these tits and guard announcing it is the steam train that has delayed us which isn't exactly fair. Guard also claiming steam train over 30 minutes late which it isn't. All a bit odd.

Oh come on Al you don't know why the diesel was attached, so lets not assume that it's because the management at RTC can't be bothered to try to run diesel free....

Oh come on don't spoil the desperate need for some to indulge in some RTC/WCR bashing! ;)

Would never happen with A1ST or DBC would it.... :D

Presumably the planned move to & from Coton Hill TC at Shrewsbury required diesel assistance. I remember of a Central Wales trip where all the passengers had to get off whilst the loco change happened at Coton Hill. That included the dining passengers who were mid meal.

Propelling with passengers on board is frowned upon, put a diesel on the other end and problem solved.

Now showing a five minute stop only at Carnforth tomorrow morning on RTT so I wonder if that’s correct.

Superb sound up Hencote Hill out of Shrewsbury. Probably the best she's sounded over the last three days.

I'd been assuming the 40 min stop at Carnforth was to detach the diesel but now I wonder if there's a friend as far as Carlisle --- with the added bonus of an hour at Penrith! Almost time for a trip to Ullswater.

Terrible signalling problems in the Carstairs area last night--- hope that's sorted.

Edit--- thinking about it, can the locos do Carnforth--Preston--Carlisle for water?

Looks like Diesel is on the back as far as Carnforth then in its own path up to Edinburgh from there. Would be very surprised if they did shorten the stop as the 3 service trains would catch the tour long before Penrith if they did.

I thought the times in the columns headed 'Realtime 'Arr Dep and Dly'are the actual times the train ran last time the Path was used?

That's right. It's still 45 mins at Carnforth. The WTT column is the correct one. RTT does some weird guess work sometimes in the Realtime column We've had this discussion before @sgthompson !!
