    Evening all,

Looking for a bit of help. Would anybody on here know more about the No. 5 type snowplough featured in this diagram by the LMS, and perhaps know where detailed engineering drawings (if any still exist) are held or can be obtained?

    Thanks in advance!

First port of call will be Search Engine at the NRM York.
You may find you need to search on engine type as I recall that similar ploughs for the LNER were custom built for various classes of loco.
There was also the Bogied Independant Ploughs in use on the MR Settle and Carlisle.
Outwardly looking very like the NER Independants like mine but with bogies.
I think they were withdrawn in the 30's or so

Think this is the Q6 Plough at Grosmont
There were 2 other timber framed Buffer beam ploughs on the NYMR but they got dumped a few years back. Idiots.

As a slight aside, are there any surviving ploughs similar to the one shown on the 8f that survive?

Ploughman will no doube be able to give chapter and verse but it is not a No.5 plough. If you look at the drawing, it is obvious that nothing could be coupled in front of the loco with any of these ploughs. These have to be removed when not required. The plough fitted to 48126 is much further back and you can couple to other vehicles. It can be permanently left in place as often happened, at least during the winter months
