  2. That particular ball has always been in the Company's court. It remains so. Until the Company decide to change things then nothing will change. But never say never ;)

No chemical explosives, but still scary things ..... for the operators as much as the target (having seen a recreation)!

Unless I'm missing something, the Sunday timetable on the WSR website for the 40th Anniversary seems a little bit curious.
7802 is shown as working the 10:55 from BL to MD, it's also shown as working the 15:50 from BL but it's not shown as working back from MD to BL, unless it's double-heading the 13:00 from MD with the 37. But it's then shown as working the 16:50 from BL as well.

    granmaree vindt dit leuk.
  7. BCK 21174 has two declassified first class compartments, one of them in public use. The group I travelled with last Monday were lucky enough to secure said compartment between Watchet and Bishops Lydeard. A commercial opportunity is being missed here. Both compartments should be available for public use in return for a per person supplement, payable to the TTI. I and my friends wouldn't have hesitated to pay it. The SKs are 24985, 25308 and 25323.

I think there could almost be enough political manoeuvring for a railway version of "Yes Minister" :)

Looking at the WTT available via wsr.org.uk, 7802 works the 1055 BL - MD, 1400 MD - BL and 1550 BL - MD.

The SVR charge a supplement for travelling in their 1st class compartment stock. When I visited the line last year I happily paid the supplement, it was worth every penny for a whole compartment to myself for the whole journey on an otherwise crowded train on a very hot day. :)

Personally as a TTI I used to find it more hassle than it was worth, most of the time passengers weren't aware they needed to pay and inevitably some passengers would begrudgingly move the next coach down, which for us was commonly an SK, sometimes even with armrests, and wander what all the fuss was about. Given you only have 1 first class compartment on the whole railway I don't think it's going to tip the balance somehow!

Thank you for that info, and for the link to the WTT which shows slightly different loco allocations to the one on the official site.
A quick revision of my travel plan for the weekend is needed. :)

Just for clarity there are first class compartments for which a supliment is charged but many rakes have 2nd/3rd compartent stock as well. Some passengerss dont believe a compartment is 3rd even with a big 3 on the door. All official 1st class have a white warning notice of the extra charge. There is a FO curently running without labels which can be used without charge

For anyone thinking of visiting this sunny weekend there is the additional attraction of the Vintage Bus Running Day this Sunday.
At the moment there are 9 double deckers (including two open top) and 8 single deckers anticipated. Two of these are from 1934 and five from the 1940s.
Three routes from Minehead station starting from 10.30 -
every 20 / 30 minutes to Porlock Weir
every 20 / 30 minutes to Timberscombe via Dunster
    every hour to Lynmouth
Additional ‘tours and excursions’ subject to bus and crew availability.
Last year it was by donation / purchase of timetable but it doesn't specify on the website - https://tauntonrunningday.wordpress.com/
