It appears that the PDG haven't met since last October.

Lovely to see steam trains passing the end of your garden but wouldn't swap it we have from the back of our house of Snaefell Mountain on the Isle of Man . Afraid the Island's steam railways are 20 miles + away . I am envious though .

This blog is not just interesting and informative on technical matters, it's good to see the work done there being shown to the world at large. My commendations to those who moved to set it up, and especially to those who put in all the work needed for all the updates; the latter are particularly appreciated.

That is kind, and much appreciated.

The hard work is, of course, performed by Ryan Pope and his team at Williton, with oversight by WSR plc CME Bob Meanley and Inspector Colin Henderson.

Most of the photos come from Ryan and some of the interpretation is provided by Jeff Price.

WSRA Manager Jacquie Green and I have some small involvement in the mechanics of the blog.

There is already another update in prospect, such is the rate of interesting progress at the moment.

    Robin

    P.S.

Some may know that I also have some involvement from the safety of a relatively lofty cloud, in overseeing the restoration of two Terriers simultaneously for the Kent & East Sussex Railway. That work is at the ‘coming apart’ stage but we hope to replicate something like this blog on The Terrier Trust website there.

Back on the WSR, it seems likely that 4561 (and/or, it is to be hoped, 4160) may follow on. We will be trying to replicate the level of access.

  11. It could be that PDG has met but has not reported. They were due to meet in January after all. I hope this group has not fallen victim to new thinking. If so, that would most certainly be a retrograde step. Anyone throw some light please? Is Mel H still reading this?

Sorry if you think I have over posted, I also wished I hadn’t had to post anything here. It would have been much easier to have just walked away when I was shown the door and saved myself a lot of time, there is no gain for me.

However, I just couldn’t do it, the WSR is too important to too many good people in the community to just be allowed to fade away. Whether I’m right or wrong the WSR is at a major turning point in its history. I happened to have some information which takes some explaining and I think the true owners of the WSR in its 1,000 or more stakeholders had to know some of it (much remains hidden) so they can make informed decisions as there won’t be too many more chances for the WSR to get it wrong.

It’s for the people of the WSR to decide if they want to do something about it or just continue to leave it to the people who haven’t achieved anything to carry on, the stakes are now very high. As for me I can’t return to the WSR and my hobby time is now beginning to take another direction so don’t worry I will just fade away and my posts will slow down (some within the WSR leadership will also be very happy with that as well). At least I will go knowing I tried the best I could. Sorry if that sounds a bit soppy, but it’s the only defence I have for too many posts here.

Whilst having a lifelong preference for the GWR and its 'green and black' painted locomotives. I always felt the LT livery looked quite smart when applied to panniers. It was good to see it running in South Devon in recent times.

Given the recent contributions by the WSRA: Community engagement grant, 9351 reassembly, BL loading point finance, coach painting, BA pointwork finance, we could perhaps ease off the knocking of the WSRA by ex-WSRA Trustees, especially when they are referring to years in which they were Trustees?

That is all very well but surely somebody in your position must have some concerns?
