My efforts from last night's RAT with 92212 in charge. We had gorgeous light at Wanders Curve and Northside Lane (the sun appeared at the same time as the train and disappeared as the last coach went past), but sadly lucked out with the silhouette. Had the RAT been timed 5 minutes earlier, the RAT would've been in front of a cloud that was bright pink... never mind, my search for the illusive silhouette will have to wait for 2 weeks time!

James, good to see the result of Geoff's clearing "between the bridges" at Rookwood being put to good use, it had grown somewhat since a couple of us last tackled it back in 2016

Quite right Steve, and I forgot to say what a superb job has been done on that embankment...

That bank has been regularly cut over the years by various volunteers, it's only recently that it's been allowed to grow back again.
To illustrate that here are two pictures of the Standard Five, first one from 7th May 2005, the second one from 19th May 2007. NR0505.jpg NR0616.jpg

Dave, you cut it yourself for quite a few years, don't be modest.! I have been helping a little with the other side recently, "proper" work permitting.
The flail was out early in the year and tidied a lot of the dormant growth, which really helped and there was a good show of primroses and cowslips this year.
P.S I hope it's not too any years before 73096 is out and about again.

Dave and myself both cleared between Stable Lane bridge and Rookwood Lane bridge for nearly twenty years. We spent hours in rain or sun shine chopping/strimming between the bridges and has Night Rail has already posted various volunteers have helped out going back in to the 1990’s.

I was on the RAT on Saturday evening and and the towering white cumulus in a clear blue sky above the green woods around Four Marks made the evening perfect - helped by several pints of real ale and great buffet food too! 20190608_185825[1].jpg

Email received yesterday evening confirming that "Mid Hants Railway Ltd" are now the owners of Ivatt 2 tank 41312.

This news put a smile on my face at the end of hard day, and I will be dipping into my pocket to make a donation to MHR coffers in order to top up the expenditure.

Some pictures from a superb day spent at War On the Line today. A really impressive turnout of visitors for this event this year. We have never had to park so far across the field at Ropley. Nearly full by 11.30.
A short but brilliant display from the BBMF Spitfire was a real highlight. She roared in from across the yard and went right above us several times. Magnificent! 506 also put on a terrific show. We listened to her storming up the bank from Medstead platform on the final run of the day.
Thanks to everyone involved at the MHR for a great day. My Dad really enjoyed his Father's day treat today as did the rest of my family. We are really grateful to be able to celebrate Fathers day with him as we nearly lost him to a brain haemorrhage in 2017. Leave it as it is, but turn it round.

30925 is called Cheltenham, not Brunswick. What needs discussing about it?

My only comment is that BR never ever painted any of its Locos in Brunswick Green. BR passenger Green yes but never Brunswick.
