    Police warning over Flying Scotsman

Police say they will prosecute anyone who trespasses onto rail tracks as the Flying Scotsman travels through Gloucestershire this weekend.

The iconic steam locomotive will pass through Kemble, Gloucester and Cheltenham tomorrow morning.

But some people have risked their lives to get a glimpse by going onto railway lines.

Sgt Phil Horne from British Transport Police says as well as being dangerous, trespassing can also cause big delays.

The railways in Worcester are several hundred feet higher than New Road

Worcester floods every year - just go down to the Cathedral Water Gate and look at the plaques which record the height of the most serious floods going back to the 18th Century. There's not a lot the Council can do to stop it raining in Wales - which is the source of said floodwaters, The flooding of the cricket ground (usually well outside the cricket season) relieves the pressure of the waters on other areas.

The floods can also cause problems further upstream. Bewdley for example. <BJ>

It’s timed for Eckington at 11.18 and Abbotswood at 11.27 so in between those times (around 20 past).

A87E0893-7F94-4D5D-8E6F-000DD9E43FCD.jpeg Sir Peter Parker, then Chairman of BR once said mainline steam ‘warmed the market for railways’. Certainly this was very evident at Worcester Shrub Hill today where there was a large gathering of what we might loosely call ‘the general public’. Good natured and well behaved and the staff and police joined in the spirit of things too. Many of the usual vantage points were much busier than usual. Don’t know whether there was an element of ‘playing to the gallery’ but it was an good full blooded departure! The weeks rain has certainly been good for the weeds....

I passed her at Charlbury in an IET on my way back from the 7029 Chilterns trip, she was waiting for us to clear the single line. She'd been there a while as problems between Reading and Newbury had delayed several services. The crowd at Charlbury station was phenomenal, at least eight rows deep in the car park.

An edited video still from just north west of Coates, on the final mile of the climb to Sapperton Tunnel. Very much glad I was convinced to move down to here from the very busy bridge, just about visible in the background. Lucky to grab the final gap in the trees along the wall - having moved down with less than 30 minutes to go - which I somehow managed to keep all to myself!
