Have any pictures of the newly overhauled 'Jennifer' appeared online?

At the moment she is being painted what could and more likely will take all week to do so you'll have to hang on just a bit longer.

One out on in at Rutland Railway Museum

Yesterday after a Driver Experience day, "Singapore" was found to have a pin-holed tube at the Firebox end. She had been given an extension till the end of the year, but with only the three santa days to do, it seems unlikely that there is much point carrying out and repairs.

However, progress on BSC No 2 has been good. Only the steam brake needs finishing and a few minor bits need plumbing up, and the first steaming in preservation looks to be likely in the coming weeks.

RIP Singapore - Welcome back No 2

Here is a picture taken of Jennifer today. As the picture shows she is still being painted.

Thanks Broomhalla. That's a lovely rich shade of green; much better than the red livery which she used to carry.

It's still not finished yet so it's a case of wait and see for the final livery. Although i will be going down next week so if anything else has changed i'll post a fresh picture. I only went down today to check something on the black five but seeing it had changed colour quite dramatically i thought I'd best take a picture and keep everyone up to date.

I presume that as this is in the 'Steam Traction' section, we are only providing updates on industrial steam locos?

May have to start one in 'Diesel and Electric Traction' shortly then...

The livery has been done to match that of Nunlow. Jennifers sister! Watch out for a reunion of the pair sometime in the future...

RSH No 7667 Corby No56 passed its final boiler steam test in the presence of the boiler inspector following heavy repairs, Friday 4th December at Ruddington. The loco was in action the following day providing steam heat to Santa Specials double headed with Class 25 D7629. Attention will now be turned back to RSH No 7761 Corby No 63 that requires major firebox repairs.

Pardon my total ignorance of how things are up there, but when I last went to Ruddington, you were shut! How are the 3 ex KESR engines getting on? I regularly used to see them at Rolvenden, wasting away, and it would be great to know how they are now.

Yes, the Nottingham end of the Great Central Railway operates a very low profile public service. Generally Sundays from Easter to October, Bank Holidays and special events. Plenty of scope of development. The site is generally open and manned 7 days a week however. For those interested in visiting the site, the new Platform 1 is nearing completion and sghould be in use next season, a development that will transform both the appearance and operation of the railway.

By the three ex K&ESR engines I assume you mean Ex corby 56 and the two 16" mannings, 1762 and 2009? Well 56 is as reported, Manning Wardle 1762 is well advanced in what can rightly described as a concourse restoration. The frame has been completely rebuilt with new buffer beams, fame stretchers and footplates and hot riveted. A new cab and bunker has been built and hot riveted and a new tank constructed. The cylinders have been bored and honed and the motion is part way through overhaul. MW2009 has had some work done, wheels turned and material obtained for a new bunker, work was stopped in order to complete No 56. Work on this loco should start again as soon as 56 is in reliable service.
