    Now that is a great photo for 1989. Telegraph wires, fishplate bolted track, in situ useable platelayers hut, all we needed was a semaphore signal.

    Best send it south for that, clearly durable paint is not a northern skill.

    We did a bit of linesiding in 1989. Same train in failing light at Ais Gill. Not just a classy headboard but the red nameplates too.

    A couple of problems with that. Clan Line is worked by DBC so it would have to be one of their drivers to work it and with the support crews southern based there would be an additional logistical problem. Not quite as easy with an entirely volunteer run owning group. Having said that I’d love to see it happen.
    This is how a smokebox door should look after a few thrashes up Gomshall Bank when you use the right paint btw
