However, in an act of generosity - and perhaps, a little self-interest - providing covered accommodation for locomotives and rolling stock would be a blessing for both the M&GN Society and its hosts.

Maybe now the steam fleet’s foreseeable future is secure fund raising efforts can focus on other projects like the proposed Holt exhibition shed.

Now that would be a worthwhile fundraiser.

I don't want to comment too much about how exactly the M&GN should or will spend its money, however I will say that the society has a most excellent treasurer and that the control of the legacy money is in very good hands.

It is already clear that they are in no way taking this legacy for granted, and I'm confident every last penny will be squeezed to realise its full potential. Existing fundraising is to continue as normal in order to maximise the duration of the benefits of the new funds to the sustainable running of the WD/B12/Y14/Wissington. In short, as others have said already, very good news for the Society steam fleet.

I’d assume B12 as that was running today... I’ll try and find out what’s planned....

I think the 'What's Running' pages on heritage railway websites are a great idea in theory, but maybe just not practical in reality.

And I quite like turning up on the day to find out what's running when I get there. Element of mystery lol.

If you go to today on the timetable page it will show what is running today (accuracy seems reasonable).

I visited the NNR with the family on Wednesday.

    It was rather wet................

We arrived with only a few minutes to spare and what seemed like 'National Block a Doorway Day' going on at the entrance to the booking hall from the platform. One TTI then proceeded to 'queue bust' by announcing that tickets could be bought on the train for cash only customers. Thanks for doing our rather complex ticket order Roy!

The train interior was clean and well presented, it looks as though NNR vehicles have benefited from a full interior overhaul.

My oldest two sons joined me for a light lunch in the refreshment rooms, middle son (10) was on a 'How many cheeseburgers can I eat in a week' session & pronounced the burger excellent and only beaten by the offerings at Duxford. The Tea Tent opposite was also rather good, and Master Restaurant Critic enjoyed his Victoria Sponge A further trip up the line saw the Y14 crew fail to shout 'fore' on the Golf Course crossing.

The museum at Holt was fascinating & the station facilities god.

Domestic Facilities was as impressed with the NNR as she hadn't been with the WSR earlier this year, commenting in particular on the level of cleanliness and pride the staff clearly showed in the job. Unlike the WSR, she would be up for a visit to the NNR again.
