Yesterdays Windsor and Sunset Steam Express runs, including Shuttle 3 speeding through Barnes being redirected the wrong way to make up time!

The reporter in question is the Senior Reporter at the newspaper, plus he is also an enthusiast, so tends to end up writing any railway related articles at that paper (and the East Anglian Daily Times) to the exclusion of other staff!
However, things like the various ongoing problems with the new GA units conveniently get ignored................

For Saturday's (20 July) SD trip to Pompey, note departure from Waterloo not Victoria and and unusual routing via Linford Street and Streatham to Wimbledon. Also apparently to be T&T steam (Mayflower and Black Five?) :

The train is planned to start at London Waterloo passing over the Linford Street Viaduct before heading via Streatham to Wimbledon. There will be no stop at Wimbledon on the return as we run direct from Woking to London Waterloo. This journey is planned to feature top and tailed steam locomotives.

It says "most passengers took up the offer of seats on Greater Anglia services back to Colchester and the capital." Wasn't it all of us? Certainly all the pasengers for London or having onward connections there, as the train was going to turn right at Stratford instead of running into Liverpool Street.

First time I've actually caught the "Sunset Steam Express" at sunset! Video from Ashford, Chertsey, and Coulsdon South, and photos from all but the first location.

Egham was a bit chaotic with delayed and cancelled services last night, had to get on the footbridge rather rapidly to avoid being bowled. Then headed to Coxes Lock, Addlestone with the light getting progressively worse as the sun set

Mayflower seen hurrying through Pitsea bound for London and eventually Winchester and Eastleigh. My personal opinion but the loco doesn't look right without an express lamp/disc code, I know its not needed on the mainline but still looks better.
