Now that is a great photo for 1989. Telegraph wires, fishplate bolted track, in situ useable platelayers hut, all we needed was a semaphore signal.

    Graft on vindt dit leuk.

Best send it south for that, clearly durable paint is not a northern skill.

We did a bit of linesiding in 1989. Same train in failing light at Ais Gill. Not just a classy headboard but the red nameplates too.

A couple of problems with that. Clan Line is worked by DBC so it would have to be one of their drivers to work it and with the support crews southern based there would be an additional logistical problem. Not quite as easy with an entirely volunteer run owning group. Having said that I’d love to see it happen.
This is how a smokebox door should look after a few thrashes up Gomshall Bank when you use the right paint btw

Apologies for bringing up an old thread, finally managed to upload my shot of 35018 at Battledown Flyover on 6th July. Had hoped to do it last weekend but driving at the Eastleigh Lakeside Railway 'Small Engines Gala' got in the way! Full caption can be read by clicking on the image.
