I guess it just feels more natural for it to be leaked on NatPres... :)

Well, since the letter, and other documents relating to the EGM are on the official WSR website, I guess it's an 'official' leak. :)

By chance I got it at the same place today, but on the 16:20 BL departure. The extremely wet conditions did not seem to be impeding her progress!

Flockton Flyer series being re-run on Talking Pictures TV (Ch81) weekends at 12.00 mid day. Great seeing WSR in the early days.

    One question. about the EGM:
Why does the current situation need a formal and permanent change to the Articles of Association?
Those who know company law better than me might like to comment if a temporary amendment is possible, just to cover this year? Or are the Board expecting this situation to re-occur in future years?

Regarding the formal qualified inspection of the P Way, two points:-
    1. Hopefully the result of the inspection will agree with the WSRs own inspection records on track and infrastructure condition so there should be no surprises there then...
    2. If the line was originally built to blue route standards (or whichever weight restrictions or standards were in place at the time) I doubt that the original investors would have been happy to finance the extra cost of 'over engineering' the route to meet higher standards than necessary. After all they were investing to make a profit, not to show how good their (expensive?) engineering was. I fear it is the bridges and built infrastructure that may require a significant amount of work for the upgrade, not just the trackbed. Even for restricted 25 MPH running.

A rather strange and unnecessarily speculative comment. In comparison with other lines the WSR:
    -has no viaducts
    -has no large span bridges
    -has no tunnels
-is not in an area of difficult geology (except perhaps Dunster to Minehead across marshland)
-does not have extensive earthworks issues.

What needs doing to restore its Red route status is mostly P way related. It already had been upgraded to a Red route (from earlier pres era times) until the current temporary Blue status.

Did such standards exist back in the 1860s, when the biggest locos on the line would have been 4-4-0 tanks and bogie vehicles hadn't even reached the UK?

(Ok, the first bogie vehicle I'm aware of was from 1865 before anyone corrects me, but you get my point)

Thank you. Some of us shareholders are still loyal despite the negativity that almost every announcement the WSR makes gets on Nat Pres.

Looking at the letter I see its got crop marks which suggests that it's the printing master that was sent to the printers.
I suspect that having sent it out to all shareholders the company decided to release it publicly, and while removing the caveat is easy if you know how I guess the company didn't bother because they didn't realise that the denizens of Nat Pres would make such a big thing about it being left on there. :)

Well there has been minimal speculation about the EGM, which is precisely what the PLC hoped for I believe, in line with their Openess/transparency which was mentioned previously.

....Or perhaps the fact the company didn't remove it, may indicate something of a slack attitude within the management team. If they are not checking a simple thing like a privacy caveat what other fine (and potentially more damaging) details are they not checking?
