The local news papers in the East Midlands today have been giving the timings of the money pit trip tomorrow the 29th,so much for them not being on RTT

You are meaning 1Z88? The timings appear to get out anyway.

The RTC website day trip pages have been updated recently for the Dorset Coast Express, the Cotswold Venturer, the Royal Duchy and the West Somerset Steam Express excursions.
The pool of loco's idea for these repeat trips seems to have been abandoned. I was hoping to do a DCE to Weymouth with 6233 but she is no longer allocated to these trips on the RTC website. Gauging problems perhaps? 60009 is now hauling all of the DCE, RD excursions and the Swanage Belle (also previously had 6233 allocated) with 6233 allocated to all of the CV and WSSE excursions.

Duchess made Swanage Gala so I guess OK to Worgret Junction gauge wise. Is it heavier than an A4? there was a dodgy bridge east of Wool two years ago. Plus the Dorchester South curve may be an issue, or something totally different.

No steam to Par on the Royal Duchys this year. Can't access St. Blazey Depot due to the poor condition of the track. Steam Bristol to Plymouth (edit) and return Par to Bristol. A Class 47 will be sent LE to Plymouth to take the train on to Par (edit) and return to Bristol LE. 6233 on the 21st.

I think you'll find that the first RD (Royal Duchy) on 21st July will not be hauled by 60009. RTC mentions ''We will be steam hauled by No.46233 Duchess of Sutherland''.

As mentioned above, the steam section for the Royal Duchy this year is from Bristol to Plymouth and return. Last year the final Royal Duchy charters were steam hauled between Taunton and Par.
Although the interesting section has been lost between Plymouth and Par, steam traction has resumed between Bristol and Taunton. :) <BJ>

Actually not quite - steam-hauled throughout from Par on the return. It was the best we could come up with, following the withdrawal of facilities at St Blazey.

Expect 6233 on these (and the West Somersets) - something of a paradox, considering it would not fit on the turntable!

Apologies James. Misread Kelly's reply. Thanks for arranging that. The long climb out of Par is nice and challenging for the big pacifics. We did the second run with the Duchess in 2016 so missed the run back from Par to Plymouth.

I was just going by what was on the RTC website after having a look when they sent me an email about the repeat itinerary excursions. Good to hear 6233 will be appearing on the Royal Duchy trips.

This is where National-Preservation is at it's best. Now that we're sadly without Uksteam where else would we be able to glean such facts?

    Thanks to JS. <BJ>

6233 on all of them, or as per RYTC website (6233 July + August, 60009 September) ?

Booked on the last one in September. Had wondered if 6201 might of made a trip South as seen she was in the Torbay pool. Oh well, still be a good day.

Thank You for the information so far. :)

Pity the fireman on the Dorset Coast Express as 60009 Union of South Africa passes Addlestone. Nearly 150 mile trip from Victoria to Weymouth shovelling a couple of tons of coal into a firebox on a locomotive running at up to 75mph...... in 35+C heat..... #notforthefainthearted
