I was just reading through my Facebook feed, and came across this article in the Warrington paper, saying that the tours are now rerouted over Settle-Carlisle. I don’t know how much to believe this but it seems quite a difference from just being from Manchester to Carnforth to now go over the S&C

That would make 3 steam charters travelling north that day on the S&C. I wonder if Carlisle can handle that many charter trains in a short period of time.

Ah, for Carlisle, that would be different then.

I don’t think it’s planned to use the S&C by looking at the timings and the Northern Belle website:
    Morning trip:

    Preston - Hellifield - Carnforth (60103):

Carnforth - Preston 60103 then diesel to Crewe:

    Evening trip:
    Manchester Victoria - Preston (diesel):

Thanks for this, I was found out on Monday it wasn’t as I emailed the Northern Belle. It’s a shame but for such a diversion, I knew that it was wrong.

A few minutes late at 13:08 approaching Clapham on the Little North Western route. The diesel at the rear seemed to be making a lot of noise and the exhaust wasn't lifting at all.
