I was just about to post something very similar, @Steve. I think you are absolutely correct.
Remember also that most buses also have CCTV.

It sort of is and sort of isn't ..... and there probably are. :)

It's what tends to happen when 'Legally Learned' types are, of necessity, relied upon to draft the white papers, which may progress to draft bills (again with learned input), thence passed by Parliament, once more via the learned, into statute law, with the cynical view being that said learned types will invariably tend to ensure future case work aplently for their chosen profession.

Compare long established legislation prohibiting inlicenced distilling, which simply mentions "separation of alcohol by any means" with any modern Act of Parliament .... and nobody mention the "Dangerous Dogs Act"!

And that is where data protection rules also kick in, especially when the images are used for purposes other than those intended. It’s in that context that I’d suggest a dash cam is in a grey area, and may be covered by cctv rules rather than video camera rules.

My footage of Tornado roaring up Filton Bank in the morning just after leaving Bristol. She performed very well with such a heavy load of 11 coaches in tow. Enjoy.

Not sure an image from the front of a train is much different to an image on Railcam, especially as on some of those you can also listen in on conversations.
Plus if you do not like it on a loco do not ever go to London then where the place abounds with them. As far as I know as a country we still have the most cameras in the world.

Don't know if this is mentioned elsewhere but it is now going the "other" way from Donny to Leeds via Gascoigne Wood, Micklefield etc. Didn't want you missing it by waiting somewhere else!

There cannot be anybody who has never seen this, but in my opinion it’s always worth another watch.

At 6pm tonight Dave (channel 111 on my Sky system) are showing the race from London to Edinburgh involving 60163 Tornado yet again.

Please, don’t let us have the usual debate about the gaffes made by the BBC continuity department.

My 2 year old has never seen it. Looks like that's what we are watching after tea. Beats In the Night Garden!

Purely out of curiosity, why do people use channel no's? I could never remember all the different channels, so I just use the on-screen guide which has all the station names on it?

Direct access, rather than scrolling through a potentially very long list. See also: preset tuning versus manual tuning on a radio.

Ok - but the guide is really list of presets - your're not scrolling like a you would an old-fashioned radio.

You are in a way though - you're going past all the stations you don't want to 'listen' to in order to get to the one you do :)

Much easier to press '24' for the Tour de France than scroll through 24 programmes in the guide. I cannot remember much above 24 mind.

Referring back to FFCCTV the Trust has a policy of not publishing any photo that might have been taken 'on the wrong side' (apart from legitimately sanctioned ones) or any featuring trespassers (which is tough for photographers).

In other words, it’s over-hyped crap from RailAdvent once again.

I hope one day to get another chance on the Ebor Flyer, having been on the first one. Things remain very quiet about 90mph running.
