Is this now cancelled? Disappeared off the website and no RTT times anymore

Yes the Irish Mail was cancelled last week.

The reason given was the route was going to become a Red Route for fire risk around Wednesday/Thursday thai week. With no real rain forecast they took the decision to cancel rather than risk the show pony examples of last year.

So hopefully it should be using CLC then rather than go to Crewe and reverse there. Still nothing on rtt.

I'm confused (not dot com). AMP says the Irish Mail is cancelled, I can't find times on RTT and the links provided by alastair don't work.

Yet RalphW is answering 30567's questions about the stock as if it is still running.

    Is it or isn't it?

I think I'veanswered my question: RalphW is talking about the Blaenau train, as per this thread. sorry.

Yes and I inadvertantly linked to the wrong post.

So I haven't gone right round the bend yet? Whew!

However, just to prove I really have gone round the bend after all, I find the Irish Mail still listed on both Railway Herald and on Railadvent but I can't find a thread anywhere here on What's Going On that is or has discussed the Irish Mail.

Finally, is your "yes" an answer to "Is it or isn't?" in my question or to my comment that you were talking about the Blaenau train?

Ahhhhhhhrrrrrggghh - they've come to take me awaaaaaaaaaay!

Don't worry Jeremy, you'll soon get used to us. This is a very anarchic community. Things only happen if a member does something - hence there isn't a separate thread for The Irish Mail because no one took it upon themselves to start one.

It's not unusual for Railway Herald and RailAdvent to be up to a week behind with updates. Posters on this site, especially stewards, intending passengers or, occassionally, TOC or charter co. insiders, are often the best source of up-to-date information - but not always, and it pays to double-check people's sources (politely) if you're unsure ;-)

We know that The Irish Mail is cancelled - the original poster has good info. As far as we know, the Chester - BF trip is still going ahead, though since there's nothing in RTT yet, there must remain some doubt until someone comes on here and posts "I've received my ticket, I'm in coach Z and the locos are Lion and Rocket" or "email from Slow & Dirty Railtours confirms tour postponed until Boxing Day" or something like that ;-)

I've received my ticket and a laminated picture of the 8F at some location by the sea with a hill in the background. There are no reserved seats so I can't say I'm in coach Z.

The Ffestiniog is putting on a connecting train to Tan Y Bwlch and back which increases my confidence this is going to happen despite no RTT for the special yet.

Obviously it remains to be seen whether 46115 is FTR after the further test runs today and tomorrow. Thorough tender first testing required!

Thanks to all - I've certainly seen that there is far more reliable info herein than elsewhere during my short time here. I joined because UKsteam.info had (I hope) stuttered and then paused in April/May and have been amazed by how much knowledge resides here. So my thanks to all are not just to those who've kindly responded here but to all on NP.

There's nowhere quite like Nat.Pres! At it's best, it's the best source of gen around. At it's worst, it's a frustrating and irritating muddle of broken records, wild speculation and the sound of the wrong end of every stick being firmly grasped and swung wildly! The good news is that most of us are trying to help. You'll soon get the hang of it :)

    Affirmative re Blaenau, I think!!

Scots Guardsman is not available for this, likely the 8F alone, and still nothing on rtt.
