unfortunately I brexited early and my extension cord is a little short of 5000km although I do cut the grass at the Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers,Hamilton Ont.
Perception and presentation both very impactful to the paying public.

    Ont. = Ontario?
I don't know what the regulatory environment is like for Heritage railways running out on to the national network in Canada. Do the Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers have a main line connection?

So you are in Canada and are banging on about transport in Swanage?

If you want to campaign about a real issue - how about baby seals being clubbed to death in Canada every year?

Unfortunately baby seals are an essential part of the indigenous economy unlike the blood sports beloved of so many in the UK.(coming back under Boris?/) Anyway the Swanage Branch was part of the the rural economy .Took my first journey circa 1952 behind an M7 and LSWR suburbans. I was lucky enough to return to Swanage many times and usually stayed with founder members of the SRP. Their vision stretched somewhat beyond Norden!!

Can I catch a train at Wareham that will take me to Swanage/
Narrow Gauge 7 and a quarter and Three and a half. Situated in the grounds of a Victorian Pumping Station(Beam Engines - one of which is demonstrated running on compressed air). Check it out at Hamilton Museum of Technology.
There is no Main line running here in Ontario but the Royal Hudson operates in BC.

Well, "grass" is legal here in Ontario.Unbridled Grass growth is apparently legal at Corfe Station!! As the image on the webcam is available without limit shouldn't SR project the best it can be? I am sure that you all read other railway blogs eg the GWSR (very good) They take great pride in keeping the environs of their Stations pristine ., Lets Do it SR

Was on the UK railtours 4TC yesterday and other than toilets needing attention was a good trip.
On the way in saw 2 of the Swanage 4TC units and hopefully they will be operational soon.
Also had a glimpse of the 121
Hopefully the refurbuishment at Eastleigh would have been higher standard than the 121032 and the Swanage DMUs when in service will be popular.

On the way back saw all the steam trains and the narrow gauge Ruston loco in operation.
The Sunday 4TCs seem to be going well and on the 18th the UK railtours will feature a green class 33 rather than the 75. In September there will be a mainline steam train to Swanage, but higher cost.

Will the 4TC driving cabs comply with current crashworthiness standards for main line operation? Have the DMUs been modified in this respect?

Why does the SR 4TC need to comply with mainline crashworthiness standards?

Perhaps you think the railway should complete the castle renovation as well, as that is also fully visible from the webcam!

It loos like Oliversbest, whilst critical - well NP is full of threads with criticism - does appear to want the best for Swanage. I am surprised he has had so much hostility.
But, common with many tourist line threads on NP, the natives are very guarded about their line. ;)

As there is little hunting for food in the UK - overstocked with supermarkets - we seem to specialise in hunting in a cruel way and quite a few often treat domestic animals in a poor manner. The UK, being a small island which by and large has lost a great deal of its natural wildness, it is often overlooked that many parts, even of 1st, world countries, still hunt for food, not sport.

I do not know about others but it is not the issue of what is best for the Swanage Railway, but that someone who does not even live in the country (let alone Purbeck itself) knows what is best for us in 2019)all from a public transport perspective. When we are the ones that have to use the roads, buses trains etc every day.

It does seem that he knew the area years ago and like many - especially on history or heritage fora - have a certain interest and nostalgia fpr the places they once knew.
Your supposition about any foreigner taking interest in NP and the UK's heritage scene is patronising at least. I am sure many overseas people are Members or supporters of UK heritage, likewise many Britons have interest and probably support non UK heritage causes.

I have no problem with foreigners ex pats or anyone else taking an interest in the UK Heritage scene which is what I think I said. But in the same way I would no longer claim to know what is wrong with transport in West London since I no longer live there ,or would not have a view on Birmingham or Glasgow for example where I have never lived.
Therefore I do not know how any one overseas knows what is the best public transport solution for us in Purbeck, or understand the issues with the local council, or how heritage traction now works on the modern Network controlled railway. A railway where it seems to take up to a year to get new build ex factory traction certified for use.
