With the train only next week, does anyone know what will be up front or will it be a repeat of last time using the Brit to Carlisle then the Black 5 round the coast

Hope so! Don't think Royal Scot is back in one piece, certainly not had a test run.

Didn't think the Brit fitted around the coast?

First Brit down the Coast since 1967. Kingmoors allocation used to work down regularly before 12A and 12D shut 31st December 1967.

But don't forget that 71000 has made more recent visits to the coast including 24/02/2007 and 3/07/2010

71000 has but no 'Brit' and as 71000 was never allocated up here, its visits weren't particularly significant. However a 'Brit' certainly is, especially on the M&C where they were regulars working out of 12A.

Rather hoped the 5 would do the coast again as a proving run before the Heart of Wales on Sept 7th. Has it run since the first Lakelander?

Appalling timings for the return supplied late by NR. 4 hours in Carlisle, 1632 departure and 2320 arrival back in Crewe via various loops on the wcml and a 20 minute stop at Arnside.... same timetable as May, why the later path? Not good at all.

I was going to go and see it at Ravenglass, but it’ll just have to be my local now

Have to agree this is now a shocker and nearly 3 hours later than the outline timings. I had resigned myself to having to drive to Shrewsbury from Mid-Wales, last Cambrian connection is 20:10 off Crewe, but this now arrives after the last Shrewsbury service at 23:14!! So looks like a 2.5 hour drive home from Crewe after an unnecessary marathon. Crewe is a great starting point due to its rail connections across the country, it is useless if the train arrives back after these have all departed. I would imagine there will be many unhappy passengers at this result.
Personally I would have preferred less time in Carlisle and earlier arrival back or (dare I say) if this was not feasible diesel back from Preston.

I was thinking it would've been the same timings as the run in May

Can't even jump ship at Preston. The last connection for Shrewsbury departs 10mins before the charter arrives at 21:43!!

In May I think steam came off at Carnforth with diesel home, but I still think the timings should have been closer than these.

Just advised by Saphos this has been retimed to 1330 off Carlisle 1930 back into Crewe which is much better. Well done Saphos - great customer service!

Good news. I guess the northbound will also be retimed. 12:33 arrival currently would be less than an hour to turn and service.

Outward timings unchanged - slick operating required at Carlisle.....

Glad to see some common sense has prevailed. Hopefully some brisk running over Shap will give a little longer in Carlisle, the support crew will need it that's for sure - unless LSL have some contacts in F1 Williams team! However, I should think they are also glad for a much earlier Crewe arrival.
    Thank you Saphos.
