Seems a bit odd to announce a confirmed main line steam loco, but not say what it is.

So it’s prob got more speed up round the shed at Grosmont than it will at peak rail so it will be fine

Seems the 45231 is no longer coming (this year): "Peak Rail apologises that we have been informed by Network Rail that there is no route clearance available to allow Black Five “The Sherwood Forester” to come to Peak Rail for our Steam and Diesel Gala to be held on the 10th/11th August, 2019. Good News is that it has been booked for our Gala in 2020."

Yes im going on the sugar loaf mountaineer on sept 7 luckily, 2019 But im also tempted to go to this peak rail mixed traffic gala lambton 29 been well worth the wait for it to have a new cylinder and a 3 year overhaul alongside and 2 more industrial engines beyer peacock 1827 and peak rails austerity tanky, so quite a good lineup for alot of things to see for enthusiasts and visitors alike. Any timetables been loaded on peak rails site for the 10, 11 gala?

So why cant 45231 be dragged round the hope valley line in light steam via stockport with C.47 if clearance on the north staffs line isent valid by N.R.

Well 1st train from rowsley at 10am to matlock arr 10:25am dep 10:35 a indication top and tailing could be the order of the day and last trains to matlock 15:47 and last trains to rowsley at 16:12 (im not too sure about that though if anyone else knows) anyhow looks like it should be a good gala for the enthusiasts photters and families looking for a educating day out.

There's no run-round loop at Matlock, so all trains will be TnT.

Just to mention that the NRM's LMS Third Open 7828 restored by the LMSCA and normally reserved for dining will be open to all for the Gala.

Just one thing i wondered since the alterations south of Ambergate jct by N.R. why has all the proposed mainline tours up to rowsley in 2019 been cancelled since N.R. completed the track layout for trains to run faster between Derby and Chesterfield i know that, but has the timetable frequency increased or something on the mid mainline?
