Used to be a train every two hours on Sundays, now every hour, so lack of paths.

I believe the plan was to run all passenger trains with 29 and 72 top and tail, but when some diesel fans complained about the lack of any diesel hauled passenger trains, 72 was replaced by D8 on two trains and 72 and 1827 had turns on the freight train.

I really can’t see why 1827 could not have double-headed with 29 or 72 on at least one train. The fact that it worked the freight on its own showed it was quite capable of working the full line. I very much doubt that the income from driver for a tenner with 1827 would have been enough to pay the movement and hire costs from Foxfield (although I suppose once the railway has got you 15 quid for a rover ticket on the basis of the advertised locos...)

Ha! We had her haul a Bulleid Pacific plus 6x Mk1s at CVR for 2.5 miles. And power wise she didn't struggle. The Bulleid made the brake admittedly, as the loco's water consumption goes through the roof when having to continually make a brake, but otherwise 1827 did the lion's share due to 34007 having run out of coal.
