I wonder if there will be a line up of five Bulleids along these lines at a gala: two WCs, two BBs (both unrebuilt and rebuilt) and an MN? \:D/

There should be five Bulleids going to Eastleigh open weekend next year. This should be a first in preservation to have five or more Bulleids together.

You beat me to it!! Also will they be going by road or will they have the necessary equipment fitted to them to enable them to run on the mainline? As I really can't see that happening with the cost factor involved, I would assume road being the ideal way? But looks like it could be a fanatastic turnout, so I am definately going to be there for that!!

I was of the understanding that there is inadequate road access to the works itself, so any exhibits will at least need to be tripped over NR metals from the yard, even if they are roaded that far. Correct?

    That is my understanding.

Having driven past the works recently I think it would be very difficult to get anything in or out by road that was the size of a loco.

Have a think about the current runners missing off that list?

They both end in 28, and one of them can get itself there!

Only a guess about Clan Line though ](*,)

Whilst it would be nice to see 35028 at Eastleigh, I suspect the MNLPS's commitments to the VSOE will take precedence.

Clan Line will be visiting on Sat 23 May on a UK Railtours trip from Victoria to Eastleigh, out via Salisbury, back via Havant and Leatherhead.

It would be great if the Q1 could make it down from York for the weekend that should put the icing on the cake for all Bulleid fans.

So Manston, Wadebridge, Bodmin and Tangmere? Looks like Sir Archibald might make it too - Trouble is won't Bodmin have to be towed on put on to a low-loader wagon?

bodmin is out of traffic, so i would guess she and wadebridge would be taken by road or towed connecting rods removed by deisel to eastleigh depending on what ever the mhr decided was safest for the locos i cant see then being taken by rail with the motion still fitted due to the fact that damage could occour to the locos the q1 is a unlikily because of the cost involved of transporting it, unless it was being transported down south to go on loan anyway, i know where i would like to see it , where is lord nelson likily to be by this time, it would be nice to see her return to eastleigh and running under her own steam from ropley

There should be a great gathering of several Southern locomotive types at some stage, and not necessarily at Eastleigh (although if this is similar to the event at Crewe, then it should be a good one). Seeing examples of all four Bulleid classes together, along with the N15, LN, an S15, V, Q, Beattie Well tank etc. would be a remarkable achievement. I hope this will happen in the not too distant future (how about a 'Strong Country' gala on the MHR, or a 'Sunny South Sam' gala elsewhere?).

Removing the outside rods would prevent the outside pistons form moving but unless the middle rod is taken down - not exactly a small job - then the middle piston will be subject to movement.

Quite right Ian. The inside big end bearing is quite enough to deal with. Without taking the rod out!

i know its a hard job , taking any motion down is not easy, when ever we had to do any motion work on either bodmin or swanage, people would disapear as soon as you were asked!!! to be honest i think they will be sent by road, i wonder rather than send a working 34007, which would just be sat there because it does not have a mail line ticket could swanage not be cleaned up and send instead, that way the mhr does not loose a working engine
