I made the 1155 at the ASG 2017 from the 1144 mainline arrival I am pretty sure... not like it's far to go!

Indeed, if you've got your tickets in advance and if you're on the train already by default you've got all your stuff together and ready to go so seems fairly doable to me, I wouldn't be overly concerned. Taking a picture of a northbound service at Victoria bridge before catching it Arley - that's tight!

Don't know if there are any seats left if you cut it that fine before departure. I usually get the first train out of KR after 0900 on Friday or Saturday and it's pretty full 20 minutes before departure. Maybe the later trains are less crowded.

Not available now as I paid for it in Monday and still not received. Very annoying as I wanted to check loco allocations to decide between this and main line Railtour

How can they issue WTTs without finalising the line up ?

Based on previous occasions, there maybe a 'TBA' or 'TBC' which is the unannounced loco.

I’d imagine given the teaser being listed the way it is, that the railway knows the full line up and has enough information to print the WTT

Yes that is true but so is the point they can’t really publish it until the final visitor is announced. I’m pretty sure that it will be announced in the next couple of days and then the WTT will be sent out.

Great choice, first home out of Barry was not a million miles away at Ashchurch at the Dowty railway centre which was also home at the time of 7812.

Come on, sir! I've just read your post on the Swanage Railway General Discussion thread and you admitted you enjoyed your day out which included a run behind 34072, which along with 80104, in your own words, "put in some good performances"! I suspect you are winding us up, but even if you're serious, you will be in a small minority. For most people, 30541 will go down well on the SVR. It's regarded as the noisiest among the current active Bluebell fleet even if, I will admit, it probably won't match 6960 for volume - it is, after all, pretty hard to out-bark a Hall (modified or otherwise). I will grant that the Qs weren't regarded as the greatest of Maunsell's designs, but with the modifications to the draughting, I have no doubt that it will put up a good show on the "Valley". It's certainly one extra reason why I very much hope I'll be able to come to the gala.

It's a very capable engine; nice well designed cab (though with the oddity of having a tender from a former RHD loco, so the handbrake is on the wrong side...). Like lots of Ashford locos it is free steaming. It is at the small end of a class 4 though: a common phrase around the Bluebell is that it is a "big small engine, not a small big engine" if that makes sense -- "treat it like a big [Wainwright] C" is another way of saying the same thing. Essentially it is probably slightly under-boilered relative to its cylinders. So it goes well provided you keep on top of the pressure and water level, but you can struggle if you let it get away from you. Bear in mind that the same chassis was transformed in capability when Bulleid fitted the biggest boiler that would fit.

Some weeks ago I was on it with six on and it sauntered up our gradients (1 in 55) so there is no lack of oomph.

Would it not be fair to describe the Qs as the last of the many classic British 0-6-0s?
    Bulleid's slightly later, insect-like, Q1s were a one-off, maverick design.
