I see the Military train consisted of quiet a few wagons and two jeeps. I seem to remember last year there were a lot more road vehicles on the train. This years train did not look the part. Shame.

My thoughts exactly when I saw the ‘military train’. “Cor blimey, you could take somebody’s eye out with that”.

I can't agree with you there. Agreed, there were just two jeeps but what about the rest of the train? I filmed the train powering up Washford bank and was really impressed . The train consisted of 53808 hauling 12 wagons plus a guards van at each end. The pair of WD wagons were covered with tarpaulin that looked the part, there were 5 goods vans and the remaining wagons of which two carried jeeps. In full view aboard the guards vans were army personnel protecting the train with rifles. At the rear of the train GWR Pannier tank 7752 banked the train to the summit. I thought the whole train looked very authentic. Well done to the WSR for a very good weekend blessed with glorious weather. <BJ>

Was that due to weigh limits or the vehicles were scatted more along the line.

A mixture. My impression is that:
The MD street parade was a little bigger this year.
There were several on display at BL, MD & especially Watchet, who really embraced the entire event.

    All good public relations.

    Nick,
The re-enactor owner of the vehicles are the people who decide if their vehicle is to be on the train. Cleary the WSR have an upper limit on vehicles on the train but beyond that it's totally in the hands of the folk who own them. I would have thought this was obvious?
Clearly there were more opportunities to drive the vehicles this year in convoys (parades) and so folks have made their own decisions.
It was a brilliant weekend and I look forward to next year being bigger and better. It really shows how a railway can link communities given that the 40's weekend has spread from Watchet, who thought of it to Minehead and further if one looks at all connected events that took place. This could become the 40's weekend to be seen at if we all keep working at it. Who knows maybe a "troop train" one day?

Especially for somewhere in the financial straits of the WSR the only thing that matters is profitability. "Bigger" is not desirable on its own.

Well looks like I am incorrect........two jeeps makes a Military Train.....so be it!
Am I wrong (again) in thinking that a The Wagon Group based at Williton are no more? I donated an expensive bit of kit.
Where is it now? I hope it is not being used for Non wagon restoration.

    :)

Last year’s was amazing, this year’s not so much. But I did enjoy the variety of military vehicles on display at stations and the convoy at Minehead. A troop train sounds good. B30E5263-E2A8-43A3-84A3-81E9F2B38507.jpeg

Not quite what I said but never mind.
The Wagon Group are still at Williton and still working on wagons. I think a couple of their number are not well at the moment. It might be nice if you could look in on them and cheer them up a bit? :)
