No, you drive down to the cottages in Esk Valley and walk the trail to Goathland. You need to walk pass the wooden river bridge and then eventually you'll be able to see the bridge high up on your left. It's about a 10/12 minute hike. There's also limited parking at the cottages.

If you can manage the walk, it would be better to park at Grosmont Station, it adds maybe 10 minutes walk but the Parking at Esk Valley isn't great, and it can be full even on a normal day. That or park at Beckhole and walk from the other direction. Which is not that much farther than Esk Valley.

Very busy today with most trains full to standing. Ran generally as planned with no significant delays.
92134 was also out to play, albeit only running in light engine.

A challenging day with the weather yesterday, but all very atmospheric. The King looked and sounded great but unfortunately its leaking steam on both sides.

Chaoctic scenes at Pickering for the 11.03 departure. There was a 100 yard queue for tickets and both platforms were swamped!
Pre booking definitely the right move !

Where we you viewing from - I hadn't noticed any issues with the blue engine.
Use of the drain cocks on the two GW engines did seem excessive on leaving Grosmont however. (Fri 11.24 working)
Weather was fine til early afternoon but flash flooding in the local area by 3.30

I think even with online booking, you still have to queue to exchange for train tickets?
