The AGM and Supporters Day will be on Sept 29th at Ruddington for this project. So it will be good to get the latest information.
Sadly, a huge supporter and the Treasurer, Dennis Wilcock died earlier this year.

Have you received official notice of that from the Group, as I haven't heard anything since joining in mid May, and I would have thought there would have been another newsletter out by now..............
Have corresponded in late May regarding sponsoring something (plus the possibility of something else next year......) which was dealt with promptly, but no "general" correspondence since that date!

    Hi Johann
I have just e-mailed the Secretary and got the information. I suspect the "official" notification will appear very shortly.

    Many thanks.
I was assuming that the death of DW will have had an effect on the normal newsletter production schedule. At least I should be able to attend the Supporters Day on that date in September.

Newsletter now received with apologies for the (understandable) delay. Quite a few more components have been cast and are being machined, there is a healthy inflow of funds and cash in hand.

Wishing the best of luck to this project, but I do find it surprising that the original post contained almost a throwaway line about a train of suitable coaches being built to go with it. It strikes me this is considerably more work than building the loco itself and yet mentioned almost as an afterthought!

Would think that refers to the GCR Rolling Stock Trust who could provide suitable vehicles from their "fleet" which are slowly being restored at Ruddington, rather than a rake of "new build" GCR style vehicles. All the paperwork I received on joining the group just refers to work on the locomotive and nothing else.

As Johann says the GCR RST are working on the coaching stock. The MS&LR number 946 (6 wheeler coach) has been excellently restored and is now in the Mountsorrel Branch display museum. There is a thread about them in the "Heritage Rolling Stock" section on here.

    NP being lococentric again perhaps?

Well it could also be that this is the "Steam Traction" section of NP....
Anyway back to 4-4-0 affairs, the GCR Autumn Gala is having two such locomotives with the T9 and "Schools" class as guests - the for-runner of things to come!

DSCF7097s.jpg There were about 20 Supporters at Ruddington for the AGM and we were shown the frames - together with the new running plate edging and drawhooks. We then went into the engineering shop to see the progress on the bogie hornguides, the driving wheel hornguides, footplate steps and other parts of the valve gear. There is an increase in the funds available, as the annual amount of money coming in has shown a good increase in the last year with component sponsorship proving very successful.

My thanks to the Group and the GCRN for another most enjoyable AGM/ Supporters Day. A pity the weather was so awful though!

Thought the comment that the amount of work being done is likely to be stepped up over the next couple of years was quite encouraging as well. Shame about the torrential downpour at the end of the meeting that rather dampened the prospect of looking at the Tender. I got drenched just getting back to my car........

In typical reticent male fashion Johann, J Rob't and I (from here, any others?) didn't actually get to recognise each other at the meeting!
Anyway here are the steps that have been fabricated. DSCF7094s.jpg

After a period of silence, the website has been updated and there is steady progress on several components. More details to follow soon.

A delayed Supporters newsletter has just been received detailing further progress, with another one to come next month...

I can understand both viewpoints. A lot of YouTubers do something similar, giving their Patreon patrons a couple of days' head start before a video goes live. I would suggest that a month is excessively long - but a week would be quite understandable.

On an unrelated note, can I ask what the origin of the tender is?

A new newsletter has gone out to supporters and there has been progress on machining up to Mid March and more background paperwork since then.....it also reports that the finances are sound at this stage...so good news. There is an active Facebook group/page for the project.
