My footage of the first day of the West Somerset Railway's Autumn Steam Gala. Filmed in mixed conditions during the day. I was impressed with the panniers especially 7752 and also the impressive slog up Washford Bank for 7828 Odney Manor. The West Somerset Railway once again thriving during big events. I hope you enjoy the video.

I was told by a (usually) reliable source yesterday that there is to be a WSR Gala on April 23rd to 26th 2020.

I don’t recall hearing that information before; is anybody able to confirm or deny?

 

With the failure of 6412, the Hymek will be working a full round trip solo now. 53808 will replace 6412 in the timetable.

 

Are the manors on much tomorrow? Thanks on advance

What has happened to 6412?

 

Failed injector and brake issues I was told, more time for the star of the show now ...

 

A good first day for me at the gala today. With inclement weather expected all day, I opted to travel and start the day with a breakfast on the Quantock Belle. This was a popular option and all but 3 seats were sold. Alas that proved perhaps to be a little ambitious, breakfast being served only at Blue Anchor an hour into the trip and the last six plates came out just as we stopped in Minehead It all seeemed good natured and was still a good way to start the day.
By lunchtime they were some breaks in the cloud so I jumped off and grabbed a few pics and of course the usual pasty followed by bread and butter pudding at Crowcombe. The weather drew in again later in the afternoon, so hoping for a better day weatherwise tomorrow.
