Noticed the recently-restored MOGO van had suffered a graffiti attack when taking my lunch at the Brunel Buttery today. Scumbags.

Every vehicle in the yard got tagged Sunday night. I don’t really feel like publicising the tags as what’s important is that it is being dealt with as swiftly as possible.

Rotten luck, really feel for you. Hope there's nothing that can't be easily sorted, if I was a bit closer I'd offer to lend a hand! If you haven't managed to sort it all by August though, give me a shout, I might be free...

We have a bunch of heritage-friendly staff just across the harbour at Historic England and English Heritage's South West office. If a lunchtime wagon de-tagging blitz could be organised I'd be happy to organise a contingent to come and assist.

That's such a kind offer, thank you. I'll let the boss know. When I cycled home it looked like the MOGO had been cleaned down (though the paint may well need a touch-up) and that's hopefully the last bit of the most recent attack taken care of, but I think the help would certainly be appreciated if it happens again.

    'evening all!
Some pretty cool material from the archives, back in 2006, there was a 1940s event held at BIM, one of the highlights of the weekend was when the Fairbairn Steam Crane lifted up a Sherman M4A4 and placed it onto the goods train, which was then hauled off by 'Henbury'!

Here's a link to the blog post with video:
    https://bristolharbourrailway.co.uk/2019/09/05/sherman-tank-lift-2006/

More recently, the railway worked passenger services every day for a week, for the first time since its re-opening as a heritage attraction.
I got my first ever firing turn, and I'm still buzzing from it 2 weeks later!
    I got quite grubby.

    Hi Corwin

Fun isn't it? I had my 3rd turn yesterday. Bob's a patient driver with the inexperienced, for which I am very grateful!

Portbury currently sports the whistle formerly affixed to 7015 Carn Brea Castle.

It went well. A couple of weeping seals on the mudhole doors but nothing major. There was no pressure on the clock though, just a warming fire, so we'll know more in the next few days. I think the plan is to have another go tomorrow (Friday), if anyone's passing the museum and wants to have a look.

And several pallets are no more...

Incidentally, and following your previous post about Portbury's whistle being ex-7015, someone told me recently that the boiler trolley in your photo is from Swindon works. Oh, the glamour!

It was a pleasure instructing you, Corbs, seems like you'll be taking over the railway in no time at all!

Great account of all the happenings as well, fantastic stuff! Good to see Henbury coming along (y'know, in 4 years of footplate volunteering at BHR, I've never seen Henbury fully assembled!)

Had a fun filled few days with the Pug. IIRC about six charter organisers pooled resources to help make the visit happen. Lots of happy people at the end of it all.

I see in The Railway Magazine that the oldest surviving Hunslet is to be restored.

It worked on the construction of The Portway (A4) in 1922, built on the trackbed of The Port & Pier Railway

I suggest a string candidate for a visit to Bristol

It beggars belief, how could they not see that, would they drive into a ditch if the road took a turn? Maybe. I wonder if they were distracted at the time and not looking ahead.
