2020 Events

It is that time of year where railways start to announce their 2020 events.

So far I have some events for North Yorkshire Moors and Seven Valley. (Info from the respective steam gala booklets).

North Yorkshire Moors

• 4-6 June Diesel Gala
• 4-5 July 60s Fest
• 25-27 September Steam Gala
• 9-11 October Railway in Wartime

Severn Valley

• 16-19 April Spring Steam Gala
• 23-25 May 50th Anniversary of Running

 

Is it still 9 days? I thought I read somewhere that idea had been scrapped in the end.

 

Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway are having a gala on Early May Bank Holiday I believe

 

Bluebell will be holding a series of events in connection with the 60th anniversary, of which the biggest I believe will be 8/9 August, which marks the actual anniversary of when trains started running in 1960.

Swanage Railway Diesel Gala and Beer Festival 24th - 26th April 2020.
These days are normally diesel-only operations.
Over the last few years there has also been a mixed steam/diesel 'preview day' on the preceding Thursday [if so, next year will be on 23rd April].

This has now been confirmed and will be the return of the Spring Steam Gala.

At Cambrian Heritage Railways at Oswestry we have the following events planned for 2020

30th - 31st May: Model Railway exhibition.

Oswestry Food & Drink Festival 11th & 12 July.

Heritage Open Days 11th -20th September ( we only run at the weekends but the museum will be open throughout )

Ghost train: 31st October.

Santa Specials 7th-8th, 14th 15th, 21st -22nd December 2020.

Of course the main event will be the opening of the new station at Weston but that may not be in 2020 as we still need to raise funds to complete the Link and station.
