What you left out is the fact that one director persistently supported the businessman even when it was apparent that he was an asset stripper out to get as much cash as possible out of the place, while the other directors took legal action in an attempt to terminate the contract. You will find posts about this at the very beginning of this thread in 2014. It's convenient for the new group to tar us all with the same brush. To go into even more detail, the directors tried to organise track repairs per the ORR requirements in June 2014, but it was the same one director who organised the Society Committee to vote in favour of ripping up the track. The same committee was then prompted by the same director to pass a vote of censure on me for the crime of consulting a solicitor and I was summarily dismissed from all my posts at the Railway. The legal action to evict the businessman was cancelled by the sole director. Its convenient to omit all these details but rather foolish to turn down all offers of help from past directors who have years of experience of solving railway problems.

Having read this discussion, I visited today to see what was going on.
    I found:
    i) Friendly, genuine, optimistic and very informative volunteers, determined to put right the wrongs and get the railway back on an 'even keel'. Seems this is being hindered by having to manage the debts bequeathed by the previous dodgy regime. Sounds like the sums involved are big for an organisation like this, but not massive if one compares it with costs of other projects in the preservation movement.
ii) Track reinstated within a couple of hundred yards of Pontprenshitw, to link up with the remaining track towards Llandyfriog (which itself will need partial relaying).
iii) Both steam locos carry 'NOT FOR SALE' (!) notices. (No point in selling the family silver.) Both have work in progress.
iv) Plenty of extra activities available for families with kids. (To keep them on site and spend more!).
I was left with no doubt as to the potential of this rural railway and that the past is firmly behind them. The next couple of years will be crucial. Like all heritage lines, money and volunteers (and visitors!) will be key ingredients for the future and there seems little point in dwelling on the past and giving oxygen to those who played a part in its near downfall.
Finally, as one volunteer explained, this is one of the very few (only?) heritage lines that has had to be rebuilt twice!
I concur with the correspondent above; give them help, not criticism. And remember, there are plenty of people around with "years of experience of solving railway problems" - just need to attract them and get a new perspective.
Remember the old adage: "If Rome had been built in a day, we would employ the same contractor."

You make no mention of the injustice perpetuated by the new group by blaming ALL the directors. You don't seem to realise the hurt inflicted on longstanding workers on the railway when the new group threw out ALL previous workers. The group consists of those who support the manager. No criticism of him is permitted and all those who have ever disagreed with him have been purged. How distressing is it when all offers to help are rejected?

The duties of directors are set out in the Companies Act 2006. The essence is that every director is jointly responsible with every other, for compliance of the company with all its legal obligations as well as for its functioning in accordance with its articles.

"Grinding! Grinding! Get your axes freshly-ground here!"

This subject only keeps returning, and people only keep being reminded of what happened, because of one person who seems to refuse to grieve and move on, so digs the whole thing up again both here and on Facebook regularly.

Totally agree. Can't this thread be closed and a new one opened, for the TVR to report progress going forward? The negativity from that person is only going to put potential supporters off and exacerbate the damage already done - at a time when they need all the positivity they can get. The problems were in the past; get used to it.

The directors were acutely aware of this so that's why they resigned July 7th 2014, Ray Sanderson then appointed himself sole director. So he was responsible for the track being lifted and all the trees destroyed.

Elizabeth, your posts here are making you look a bit stalkerish. We all know you invested a lot of time and effort into the TVR, but you need to face up to the fact that they've moved on (whether you agree with their plans or not). You need to walk away for your own wellbeing. It is not healthy to obsess and monitor everything that they are doing.

Please find another railway or something else to get involved with and be happy.

    Keith

    @Elizabeth Perry some friendly advice

we get you are not happy with the sequence of events and feel unjustly treated however this forum and its members are not going to reinstate you and sadly your regular repetition of your grievance is rather tiresome and as you may have noted is alienating members away from you . You have a choice , move on and leave this alone of the moderation team may have to move you on , something we are generally not keen to do

    MORE FRIENDLY ADVICE.

This post by Sidmouth appears under the guise of friendly advice to Elizabeth Perry . However, to many people Sidmouth's post will be read as a veiled threat of censorship. Perhaps the other Moderators should consider applying a little more moderation in the direction of Sidmouth?

Phrases such as " we get you are not happy" or "leave this alone of the moderation team" only serve to give to give Sidmouth's posting an impression of a person lacking skills both in the use of English as well as those of moderation.

    Jamie Glover.

There is a difficulty with any thread where the same matter is resurrected time and time again when it is not in the gift of that thread to resolve the problem. The thread loses value and interest. It ceases to be a positive experience.

This thread is heading that way. Just saying.

@Jamie Glover . the message was friendly and a simple choice . as you have raised your head above the parapet it is interesting to note that your posts tend to be in the main negative . Since this is a private forum , it is nothing to do with censorship , its about striving for a harmonious community of like minded people . the forum isn't there to be a soap box for people with pet hates to repeatedly raise them . Since you object to my moderation please feel free to offer your services to the admin team

Well on a positive note. Its brilliant to see track relaying has progressed further towards the 'damaged' section. Believe this takes the line back towards the half way point. Add in loco overhauls. Looks to be heading in the correct direction to me.

Late Accounts are important because they mean a hefty fine from Companies House. This is tough for everyone at the Railway who are working hard to get things done. If Accounts are very late Companies House will close the Company down. End of Railway.

Think that is a matter for companies house. Believe companies can have this delayed for genuine reasons with permission. This may be the case here. But without the information we dont know.

To be fair I think Elizabeth has a point here. If late accounts are a recurring theme, which they seem to be, it makes one wonder whether the company is being run as well as it should be and this dents confidence as far as supporting the rebuilding is concerned. It would certainly make me think twice before donating my time or money to the cause.

It’s really not that difficult to prepare small company accounts, and the filing these days is all electronic.
