I would expect nothing less! Not knocking it, just getting on a bit for long days outdoors in the cold and rain! Might have a run up to Carlisle on the train for a look see!

This is terrible news. Will the Appleby ice cream ladies be travelling, or are there plans to bring supplies in by air ambulance?

I thought that West Coast was a TOC that went into a lot of detail in putting together its own timings for Network Rail to validate. So they should be in a good position to know exactly what is going on even if the data isn't put up for the public until late in the day.

“Mystic Winskill” called it correctly. I may need to call on his services again.

The Citadel is advertised with steam off at Carnforth on the return. Following the South Yorkshireman I thought that the 5s were currently at 10A. So, bear with me, if you look at the various RTT movements linked to the Citadel you get the following on Saturday - probably.

0235 5Z48 ECS to Thorpes Br timed at 95mph - so no steam on the back.
At Thorpes Br it is met by 5Z49 ex Bury ELR -so are/will the 5s be at Bury?
The train is formed and becomes 1Z49 and runs to Carlisle.
There is also 0Z48 ex Brewery Jn that runs to MV rev sdg and stays all day - the diesel?
On the return at Carnforth, nothing is shown leaving or joining from 10A - is steam stopping on?
Following arrival at MV, 1Z50 becomes 5Z51 MV to Bury ELR that goes up to Thorpes Bridge loop then onto Bury. 0Z48 returns from the sdg to Brewery Jn and collects the ECS to become 5Z52 back to 10A

So Wise One, where are the 5s, if not at Bury will/when do they return and is it steam all the way on the return?

OTW - you've missed nothing. 2x5MT are on the rear of the ecs from Carnforth to Thorpes Bridge Junction. The diesel loco is off here and the Black 5s work from there to Carlisle and back again. The diesel takes over again here in the evening for the ecs back to Carnforth while the Fives proceed on to Castleton and the ELR.

    See you at Carlisle

    Peter
